Product Operations Manager

Shopify has focused the last decade on solving complex problems for entrepreneurs by making commerce seamless and accessible. Now, with the introduction of Shop, we want to do the same for customers.

As an entrepreneurial venture within Shopify, we are looking for a Product Operations Lead to join Shop who is a self-starter with a passion for rolling up their sleeves, thriving in organized chaos, and being resourceful.

Product Operations is responsible for building the structure that enables teams to build the right products at the right time while maintaining the balance between optimized processes and creating space for speed, agility and creativity. This is a critical role with access to the Shop leadership team and will have ownership over key deliverables, like quarterly roadmap planning, product investment planning, and cycle planning. If you are deeply interested in enabling our people, our strategy, and our mission to make commerce better for everyone, we would love to hear from you.

Ideally, you will have:
  • Previous experience with the Product Management Life cycle and working with technical teams (Engineering, UX, Data, etc)
  • Comfort in leading conversations with senior leadership on the effectiveness of R&D functions
  • Experience acting as a leader - e.g. building high trust relationships across teams; influencing without direct authority; working proactively to identify and solve potential problems
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to deliver the right information to the right people at the right time.
  • Strong facilitation skills to get everyone on the same page
  • Be proactive and relentless: capable of seeking information independently, solving conceptual problems, and corralling resources and delivering results
  • Strong systems & reporting skills
  • Ability to craft and implement light-weight processes that scale efficiently
  • Great organizational and interpersonal skills, with proven success building relationships across all levels

Things you might work on
  • Maintain a holistic roadmap and view of on-going product initiatives for the PL to help Identify inter-team dependencies and track progress and project/initiative health
  • Act as product manager for internal systems, working with the internal tools and data teams to build tools that will result in product development and team alignment
  • Design, lead and support teams in running retrospectives and find ways to communicate the findings to the rest of the team and to leadership
  • Work with cross-functional teams to build a world-class product operations platform, with tracking, segmentation, and project management tooling
  • Develop the Shop product management competency, including frameworks, process, and tools specific to a Digital by Design environment
  • Create new innovative programs to take product development at Shop to the next level

We know that applying to a new role takes a lot of work and we truly value your time. We're looking forward to hearing from you! Please address your application to Amber.

Closing date: April 21, 2021 at 5:00 pm EST. Candidates proceeding to the first stage of interviewing can expect to hear back by April 26, 2021
