The role
Josh Wood Colour is looking for a curious, enthusiastic UX/UI designer to take the lead on managing the day-to-day design needs for our growing eCommerce business. Sitting at the heart of the small but fast-growing organisation this role is very hands-on and requires a person who is willing to learn fast and grow with the company.

Josh Wood is a world-leading colourist, an Executive Board Member of the British Beauty Council and a regular host on ITV’s This Morning. He founded the Atelier in 2011 as the home of our handpicked dream team of colourists and stylists. Josh Wood Colour is on a mission to offer a better solution for customers to have fantastic personalised hair colour that is tailored to each individual and a salon-quality experience at home.
Responsibilities
- Design and define interaction patterns through components, documentation, and prototypes and then manage the implementation of the design system across the product ecosystem.
- Illustrate ideas using a variety of wireframes and high-fidelity designs
- Test with prototypes that can be easily disposed of or iterated on to learn more
- Refine through high fidelity mock-ups that solve the problem at hand
- Participate in the conducting of usability testing to gather feedback and iterate ideas
- Develop a design system that is used to create superior user experiences and strengthen the Josh Wood Colour brand
- Foster a team and company culture of involvement user centred design thinking practices
- Devise and run design workshops with team members
- Collaborate and support people in other streams
- Act as a constant source of insight into both trends in user experience design and best practice
Ideal candidate
- 3+ years of experience in design and research covering the full spectrum of design practices and techniques from visual language and interaction to process flows, journey mapping and design system
- A strong sense of visual design. A sensibility for layout, visual impact, colour, proportions, typography and iconography
- Proficiency in UX / UI tools (Adobe, Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, Abstract, etc.) together with a knack for effective prototyping
- A portfolio showing high quality, thoughtful UX and UI work
- Comfortable working in an agile environment with designers, developers and product managers to create new digital products and services
- Demonstrable knowledge, experience in and passion for user centered design practices
- Confident presenting work to a room of the curious and the sceptical, the interested and the demanding
- Like to embrace the small details that ultimately define the product
- UX writing / Content design experience
- Design for subscriptions based mobile products
- A good understanding of technical aspects of mobile (iOS and Android) and web applications.
- You are passionate about or you already have experience in the beauty industry
Working Environment
- We have a physical office presence in Ladbroke Grove, London, but have a flexible working from home culture
- This role is likely to involve travel both within the UK and abroad when Covid travel restrictions lift
