About the Role: 

We are seeking a General Counsel to lead our growing legal team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day legal operations activities at CreateMe as well as a key member and advisor to the Executive Team. As the General Counsel, you will oversee the corporate-wide management of all legal business matters pertaining to the organization and coordinate with external counsel as required. The ideal candidate has broad legal experience, is detail-oriented, high integrity, and is a compassionate and business-minded leader.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and coordinate with internal and external IP counsel on patent and IP strategy and internal and external licensing and business affairs counsel; as well as with all other internal external legal advisers
  • Act as a central point of contact and conduit for all legal company matters, and cost effectively manage legal spend with vendors, against goals
  • Organize and work with business ops to automate legal process, flows, and centralize and permission repositories where applicable
  • Coordinate, execute, and unify all corporate legal agreements, including employment agreements, NDAs, PIIAs, partnership agreements, equity incentive agreements, vendor agreements, and customer agreements (including terms of service)
  • Drive licensing agreement strategy and execution, including working with the technology team on blockchain implementation
  • Lead legal due diligence for potential acquisition targets
  • Oversee global compliance function, including OSHA and other compliance team members

Requirements: 

  • 15+ years of experience as a corporate attorney, preferably with a mix of in-house and outside legal experience
  • JD and strong academic credentials required
  • Professional discretionary disposition, upholding, representing and advocating for the company values
  • Mastered experience in general corporate matters, including corporate organization, securities compliance, drafting transactional documents, license agreements, IP and patent law, corporate law, contractual law, regulatory matters, employment matters, RE law, and risk management
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
  • Corporate legal experience in a fast paced scaled growth, or start up environment
  • Show initiative, high energy and a desire to succeed, while demonstrating enthusiasm and passion to inspire employees throughout the organization
  • Team player with the ability to work independently or as a part of a team
  • Strong knowledge of NY and DE corporate law

Preferred Requirements

  • Admitted to CA bar or strong knowledge of CA law
  • Admitted to NY Bar
  • Apparel or technology or manufacturing corporate legal experience is a plus
