Job Title: Director, Design Handbags Outlet

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in design to...
- Responsible for managing the design process from conception through production
- Responsible for market / trend research
- Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., ability to communicate and sell ideas/concepts)
- Works closely with the VP and the print team to conceptualize seasonal prints
- Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
- Ensures that product is of high quality and consistent with market trends, as well as businessstrategy
- Works with technical design team and product development team to ensure design packages are complete and accurate
- Partners with merchandising to assort line and develop product appropriate for each channels business needs
- Some travel for research and/or product development is potentially required
- Executes corrections as needed; works with merchandising and production to find appropriate solutions to cost or construction issues
- Works closely with team members on day-to-day basis to give direction and build their design skills
- Works closely with the Creative Studio Director to ensure process fluidity and to develop seasonal color palette, new materials and prints.
- Partners with the VP and the Creative Studio Director for seasonal color development

The accomplished individual will possess...
- College degree in fashion design or a related field preferred
- 10+ years design experience
- Experience designing handbags in luxury or high end designer market
- Strong computer knowledge, including adobe illustrator
- Exceptional leadership, communication and organizational skills required
- Ability to hand sketch
- Strong design and conceptual skills
- Excellent sense of trends, style and color
- Strong understanding of print development and how this translates to Leathergoods
- Shape building skills required
- SLG experience a plus
- Thorough knowledge of raw materials
- Strong handbag construction knowledge required
- Understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment
