About the role

This role acts as the Supplier Sustainability team's leader of licensee social and environmental compliance. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Supplier Sustainability, this person will be responsible for helping develop, implement, and continuously manage an industry-leading social and environmental compliance program that is specifically designed to manage our licensee supply chain. We are seeking a proven leader with deep experience in managing social and environmental risks in licensee supply chains, with a proven understanding of the social, labor, human rights, and environmental landscape. You will be expected to help manage and drive partnerships with industry leading partners including ILO Better Work, the Social Labor Convergence Program, and the Apparel Impact Institute. Other key responsibilities will include partnering with our Global Supply Chain organization, and our purpose-driven portfolio of brands, to enable the strategic growth of our portfolio, while ensuring that Gap Inc.'s industry-leading social and environmental responsibility programs are adopted and scaled across our licensee base.


  • Develop a social and environmental compliance program for Gap Inc.'s licensee supply chain. Support the Gap Inc Licensee team for Code of Vendor Conduct evaluation.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new suppliers and factories to the relevant Gap Inc. social and environmental requirements. Partner with Gap Inc. Licensee team to drive continuous improvement in facilities.
  • Build and manage the Gap Inc Licensee Vendor Approval Process and data system. Manage the Assessment & Remediation Licensee program, including overseeing the factory approval process, assessment schedule, assessment quality assurance and quality control, and all remediation.
  • Direct the work of Supplier Sustainability team members involved in managing social and environmental compliance issues across our licensee supply chain.
  • Manage continuous program improvement including periodic reviews of and updating existing policies and procedures and developing and implementing new policies and/or procedures as necessary. Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators relating to the social and environmental performance of the licensee supply chain.
  • Provide oversight of and actively participate in key partnerships with ILO Better Work, Social Labor Convergence Program, Sustainable Apparel Coalition, and Apparel Impact Institute, among others.
  • Manage complex engagements with key stakeholders, including trade unions, labor and human rights NGOs, employers' associations, governments, and community-based organizations. Proactively identify reputational risks and collaborate with business partners on creative and practical solutions.

Who you are


Significant experience managing social, labor, human rights and environmental programs for a global specialty retailer, with specific experience in the licensee supply chain.


Proven track record working in the licensing sector, managing key social and environmental risks with key external partners.


Experience working across a global enterprise with multiple stakeholders in licensing, production, sourcing, and sustainability functions.


Able to cut through complexity to distill the most important issues.


Able to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Action-oriented, able to prioritize and juggle multiple matters.


Practical mindset with ability to balance risk with business impact.


People management experience required.
