JOB SUMMARY

A dynamic writer to help tell our brand story and create the narrative around our products. This role is responsible for crafting the storytelling and pushing the brand forward through smart, engaging copy that inspires and informs the customer across all touchpoints. You will be the master of messaging for specific product categories, you will shepherd and shift the message depending on where it appears. Email and site copy will be a primary focus, as digital is a priority. Through close collaboration with design, photo, social, PR and business/marketing partners, you will translate broad creative ideas into tight concepts and executions. This role will bring a strong editorial and fashion point of view, upholding a magazine authority and editing rigor. The ideal candidate will be able to connect stories and messages to the larger world of fashion, culture and key seasonal trends — while always remaining true to the voice and vision of Tory Burch.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the writing team to establish seasonal stories and define product narratives: write and build storytelling around product heroes and brand franchises
  • Write copy for site, emails, digital marketing, print, social and product descriptions. Digital copy will be a primary focus of this role.
  • Work with the creative team to synthesize briefs into strategic creative concepts that drive the business each season
  • Drive and ensure execution of storytelling for digital — including reviewing site refreshes in staging
  • Write and edit copy for APAC, EU and other global markets: leverage and/or rework copy for international markets when necessary
  • Write and edit marketing copy (new store openings, events, pop-ups, invites, signage, print mailers, VIP customer communications, bouncebacks, wholesale partnerships, etc.)
  • Pitch and write stories for Tory Daily and integrate content into ecommerce and social media. Ideate other ways to syndicate content.
  • Drive the customer experience and UX forward through site and email enhancements, including new storytelling components. Provide and edit copy for site (ex: wish list, shopping bag, ratings & reviews, account) and email (ex: triggers, targeted emails, back in stock) to customer service messages.
  • Relentlessly review all copy and creative, checking for context, spelling, syntax and tone. Ensure marketing copy does not sound like "marketing speak."
  • Manage feedback from creative reviews, update and pivot based on business needs
  • Participate in seasonal planning meetings, weekly marketing/production/merchandising touch-bases, creative reviews and content meetings
  • Support special projects and initiatives across channels (ex: fashion show, special product launches, etc.)

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Experience writing and editing, with a knowledge of luxury fashion, style and culture
  • Strong digital fluency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Keynote and user-friendly content management systems

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master wordsmith: Strong writer who challenges the status quo; understands that five words, if the right ones, can have the same impact as a beautiful image
  • Clued in: knows when, why and how to shift tone
  • Visual storytelling: knows how to package stories and franchises
  • Editor's mindset: culturally tuned-in and can translate a marketing brief or investment/buy into a compelling story
  • Team player: must be able to work with different types of people and departments
  • Curious: always looking for and thinking about new ways to do things, shake up the process
  • Detail driven: highly organized, with meticulous attention to the little things
  • Creative problem-solving: flexibility to balance editorial and business needs
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, adapt and re-prioritize
  • Self-editor: ability to research and fact-check
  • Nuanced: Understands the difference between clever and cliché
  • Positive attitude: a sense of humor
