JOB PURPOSE

The Information Governance Manager is responsible for all aspects of defining and operating the information governance policies across multiple data domains. The appointee will provide the authority for all information Governance oversight to ensure awareness across the organisation and drive decisions for information standards and policies.

The purpose of this role is to work with the enterprise information architect to information standards within Burberry. The appointee will be a key player in the digitisation of the IT architecture and business capabilities.

This newly created role will be responsible for leading the Information Governance programme. Information Governance Manager will work closely with the Business Stakeholders, Data & Analytics Community, Delivery and Architecture Teams to ensure set standards are adhered to. Information Governance Manager will work closely with Data & Information Architects to support alignment of definitions at physical layer and take the lead re data semantics. Information Governance Manager supports the business in achieving agreed outcomes through self-service models & visualisation tools.

*This is a Fixed Term Contract role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish an information management framework for an effective enterprise-wide information governance program and direct day-today activities, including program objectives, policies, procedures, training and communication.
  • Working with IT and business leadership team to establish info ownership, accountability and business as usual procedures.
  • To develop excellent 'trusted advisor' relationships throughout the organisation, influencing stakeholders at various level of organisation to incorporate good working practices to build and promote a strong Information Governance culture at all levels.
  • Assist with the Self-Service strategy for data consumption (API first) and information outputs, through working closely to the Business Partners and acting as an advisor to Technology Teams - bridging the gap between logical and physical layers obstructing Information Governance goals being achieved.
  • Hands-on support to relevant stakeholders and setting up the working standards in initial stage of the framework introduction, resulting in 'good practice' documentation.
  • Maintenance of Knowledge Management content to promote and support the Information Governance programme.


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Significant Governance experience within industry, preferably retail.
  • Hands on experience working with data and information.
  • Previous experience with EDW and/or other central data systems is desirable.
  • Experience being part of developing APIs process.
  • Understanding of conceptual and logical data models.
  • Experienced in data modelling and understanding on how data models could be used.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and ability to capture KPIs definitions from detailed data level to business meaning.
  • Experience of working in and around big data platforms.
  • Ability to understand business change needs and assess the business impact of those changes.
  • Ability to capture, analyse and document requirements while supporting the communication and delivery of requirements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to visualise the information concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey information succinctly and concisely.
  • Experience in preparing presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and work effectively with others at all levels across the business.
  • Ability to influence business partners/stakeholders.
