This role sits in Business Finance Organization ( BFO) and forms the key interface between Finance and the Businesses. In this role Team Lead Markets Finance - Nordics will serve as a genuine business partner to the General Manager Nordics. The successful candidate will help the GM Market to devise, execute and track their strategic, operational and financial plans. The Team Lead Markets Finance - Nordics will bring a strong commercial understanding of the business and its key value drivers to enable the successful development and execution of local Go-to-Market strategies, support key commercial steering and investment decisions and ensure the efficient scaling of our teams, processes and infrastructure. They will be a business-minded executive with a well-rounded financial expertise. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that will have a direct influence on the day-to-day rhythm of Zalando's core consumer business and ensure its continued success.

The role will lead a team of 1-2 Finance professionals. The role reports with a solid line into the Director Markets Finance and dotted line to business into the GM markets.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Serve as Finance co-pilot to the Markets organization supporting the GM Markets to shape the strategic go-to-market approach and to win in their local markets.
  • Act as a key partner to achieve short, mid- and long-term business goals, track performance, and manage the Markets from a strategic, operational and financial perspective. You will constructively support, advice, challenge and influence business strategy and decisions and drive our long-term strategy
  • Facilitate and deliver a seamless Finance proposition that brings to bear all Finance, Analytics & Tooling capabilities, incl. Planning, Forecasting, Steering, Reporting, and Performance Management as well as acting as the go-to-person for all Finance related matters (incl. Accounting, Tax, Financing, etc.)
  • Translate the markets strategies and objectives into measurable operational and financial outcomes by developing trust with senior executives, engaging in constructive debate, and partnering with peer leaders, other business divisions, and across other finance functions.
  • Play a key role in decision making around growth initiatives including entering new markets, changing the local customer proposition (e.g. local warehouse), taking commercial steering decisions and investing in teams and infrastructure.
  • Support GMs in developing investment cases across commercial and non-commercial levers and flag trade-off decisions.
  • Manage a team that continually interprets and analyzes commercial, operational and financial data of the Markets to provide insightful recommendations that accelerate growth and create value. This specifically includes the (a) creation of annual budget plans and preparation as well as critical review of investment decisions to make sure they fit the long-term strategy of the respective region/ country, (b) translation of commercial forecasts into P&L forecasts down to regional levels as well as corresponding interpretation, and (c) preparation of monthly/quarterly business reviews on market level.
  • Provide swift re-prioritization and adjustments of plans and forecasts in close collaboration with Commercial Trading teams to react to rapidly changing business demands.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A proven Finance business partner who can shape, develop, and drive a business strategy and play a key role in developing, executing and tracking go-to-market strategies and growth initiatives and in driving commercial and financial performance.
  • A well-rounded senior finance leader with 10+ years expertise in developing a best-in-class function and team within a division of a global, complex organization of relevant size and scale. Demonstrated thought leadership in strategic thinking and problem solving.
  • Track record of successfully leading teams through transformation and comfortable with a flexible, less structured environment where new ideas and processes are frequently (re-)designed and implemented.
  • Experience in setting up business cases and driving financial conclusions, strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Meaningful exposure to a company with international/ global sales and operations. Experience within a consumer, data-focused and technology-driven business, preferably in a high growth environment.
  • Excellent analytics skills, a passion for metrics and figures, understanding of P&L and the ability to get into the details. while also seeing and understanding the big picture.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Fluency in one of more of Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian or Danish is preferred but not mandatory
