JOB PURPOSE

We are further developing our ability to deliver cloud infrastructure services, globally and require an IT architect to help guide and deliver solutions across a wide-ranging portfolio, to a successful outcome.

The Solutions Architect will be responsible for the creation of detailed IT solution designs, aligned primarily to the IT Infrastructure and Cloud Delivery Services (ICDS) Tower and Portfolio. Collaborating with project teams and other key stakeholders they are expected to fulfil a critical business facing role: one that interprets and translates requirements into solutions that are adaptive, impactful, business aligned, and adhere to our requires for quality, standards and governance. The candidate will be expected to be passionate about technology, with an excellent understanding of infrastructure, networking and security domains.

The role will report to our Enterprise Architect for Infrastructure and will offer an opportunity to build a career at Burberry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an evolving and balanced solution architecture for projects, addressing business function needs and achieving alignment with known business function priorities and roadmaps, enterprise architecture principles, standards and governance process agreeing design changes and pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Manage logical to physical design, collaborating with both internal and external delivery partners.
  • Where required, establish and direct innovation-led proof of concepts and make recommendations on technology adoption and benefits.
  • Ensure that delivery projects plan for all relevant architectural governance, design reviews and gating.
  • Be the owner for any architectural and project risks and/or issues throughout the lifecycle of any delivery projects, with relevant business function(s) and IT project team(s).
  • Develop the solution and technical acceptance criteria to ensure the integrity of any proposed solutions across our IT estate and enable communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with the Security and Information Risk functions to align solutions with the needs of our security standards and principles.
  • Support delivery projects in accounting for solution infrastructure from an operational and supportability perspective and that all non-functional requirements (including SLAs for business continuity, availability and scalability, security) are addressed in the solution.
  • Ensure that the solution architecture balances functional, service quality and operational management requirements but remains bound by relevant commercial, business function and technical constraints.
  • Share and collaborate on technology solutions with other stakeholders, especially implementation partners to ensure skills are developed in-house and knowledge is retained.
  • Communicate portfolio of content and reusable solutions to suppliers and partners, ensuring the most appropriate deployment of their technology and products as possible.
  • Support wider IT relationship with technology vendors.
  • Attend relevant design authorities and act as the subject matter expert for infrastructure related domains.


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Demonstrable experience in solution architecture (primarily Infrastructure/Cloud), having developed a career in Infrastructure related roles.
  • Ability to collaborate with other architects, project teams and stakeholders in the creation of architectural artefacts, such as roadmaps, standards, and reference models.
  • Good communication and storytelling to convey information succinctly and concisely.
  • Experience of engaging with a wide range of IT and non-IT stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-manage workstreams and priorities.
  • Previous experience with enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, terminology, key success factors, and methodologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and remedy poor project management practices.
  • Experience estimating effort for various deliverables.
