Deity New York is Hiring an Associate Fashion Designer
At Deity New York in Manhattan, we’re hiring a fashion-focused Associate Fashion Designer to plan and implement our company’s Ready To Wear collections each season. Our fast-growing company designs ready-to-wear apparel for women that is stylish, commercially appealing, and has stand-out flair. Associate Fashion Designer For Hire
*Please note this is a full-time salary role with benefits. We are looking for availability of 5 days/week.*
- Creating detailed and colorful illustrator flat sketches of proposed designs and assisting with creating new ideas, concepts and designs for the collections and presenting them
- Detailed fabric knowledge/ construction and fiber content of fabrics and trimmings. Assist in the selections of garment trimmings and finishes
- Responsible for managing the design process from conception through production for RTW including hand sketching, flat sketching, specing, and creating tech packs
- Sketch and spec new designs, update existing sketches, specifications, and write prototype fit comments when needed
- Create and update overview boards in illustrator
- Assist and be on site with garment fittings, prototype corrections, and assisting with sourcing materials for the collections
- Assisting with company garment testing, color fastness etc, and anything else needed along the way.
- Keep organized record of all seasonal development (prints, artwork, submits, ext)
- Perform market research to understand customers and to identify new trends, yarns, techniques, etc.
- CADS & Tech Packs made for all styles including in each pack: Fabric info and suggestions, detailed construction details, measurements, trim, and artwork specifications.
- Research trends and brand relevant concepts, details, and silhouettes based on seasonal concepts from the Creative Director.
- Create detailed fashion sketch Mood Boards, Trend Reports, On-going Market R&D, Pantone Color Palettes, Lap-Dips etc etc…
- Update design revisions and communicate with the design team. Work closely with other members of the design team and cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive product line is realized
Qualifications
We’re looking for a proactive associate fashion designer who lives in or near Manhattan and can work at home and travel into the City at least 5 times per week. To be a top contender for this job:
- Degree in Fashion Design or related field
- Acute knowledge of woven construction and design
- Strong portfolio with lots of fabric development or manipulation is a plus!
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
- Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop is required
- 4-8 years’ experience in product development and/or design
- Strong listening, written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and organized
- Ability to thrive in fast paced and high intensity environment
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to flat sketch in Illustrator
- PLM experience a plus!
- Color management experience a plus
