Principal Product Manager - Digital Experience Platform

As a Principal Product Manager within the Client Engineering team, you will define and own the product vision for creating new capabilities to enable Zalando's engineering community to create high impact customer facing products and features. Your work will directly impact the customer experience of 41 million Zalando customers across app and web who depend on product description and imagery to make their purchasing decisions. You will also be responsible for ensuring consent management and product usage data can be captured and used for analysis to improve Zalando's services to its customers. You will be working closely with design, engineering and product management communities to disrupt the way our customers shop fashion and beauty online. You will become a thought leader and trusted expert for rendering, tracking, and API related topics and deliver digital solutions or capabilities that enable Zalando to build immersive experiences online.

  • Define product strategy, roadmap and backlog for your own area and drive meaningful impact for the customer and business by delivering on them successfully and quickly across the customer journey
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and across teams and functions to identify strategic priorities based on delivering superior customer value and creating business impact
  • Backup your intuition, ideas and decisions through data-driven insights, a high degree of customer empathy and a thorough understanding of market specific trends and customer behavior
  • Involve and engage commercial stakeholders across all phases of product development, share updates, foster alignment and secure buy-in for decisions
  • Author all important product documents including a product roadmap, working backwards press releases, definition of business requirements, as well as functional specifications
  • Define KPIs for your area, understand how they impact our business performance long-term and monitor success over time
  • Mentor and product managers in the team and across the organisation

  • Experienced (5+ years) data driven and highly collaborative Principal Product Manager with a strong growth mindset and a track record in shipping customer facing products across multiple platforms and business impact at scale.
  • Demonstrated your ability to relate to customers, identify and understand their underlying motivations and needs and showcased a high degree of intuition for how to solve customer problems and develop the most impactful solution across all stages of product development.
  • Experience with customer research across all phases of product development, backing up intuition through qualitative and quantitative data as well as validating products through customer feedback
  • Experience in defining and delivering on a product vision and strategy, and the patience to work with competing priorities to deliver value to customers. You can maximise medium-to-long term impact of the work you do with your partner teams and drive overall success independent of organisational boundaries
  • Solid experience in measuring the success of your products across large scale releases to continuously iterate and improve them for the benefit of our customers
  • Track record of leading cross functional teams through influence, not hierarchy, and uniting stakeholders across a large organisation behind your product vision and strategy
  • Experience in working with cloud-based image and video management platforms that provide high quality digital experiences for customers, ideally fashion or beauty e-commerce customers
