JOB PURPOSE

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for managing the core operational activities within IT and will work closely in collaboration with the Portfolio and Finance teams.

The IT Operations Manager will manage a small team of Operations Partners that support each of IT Delivery Towers. Together the team is a key change agent in the optimisation of IT's Operational processes.

* This is a 12 month fixed term contract role (maternity cover).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and drive core improvements within the operations processes both inside and outside of IT (including but not limited to; time booking, project creation, funding and closure).
  • Manage and motivate the IT Operations team in their day to day activities partnering with Towers by ensuring financial, change, transition, audit and portfolio practices are run at the highest standard.
  • Take an active role in the Tower Leadership Team, shaping priorities and managing the wider tower.
  • Drive a data driven culture within the team to proactively surface key information used for decision making across the department.
  • Provide the Product Owner function for all department time booking (internal & external resources).
  • Manage the IT Training budget, vendors and overall offering to IT.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams inside and outside of IT (Finance, HR, Procurement).
  • Lead and perform key month and year-end activities linked to Opex and Capex spend against budgets. Coordinating the Year End plan for IT with all relevant Teams involved (Portfolio, IT Finance, BBS Finance, Procurement & all IT Towers).
  • Help land organisational changes with IT including compliance activities such as AEO, IR35, adoption of e-signatures and management dashboards.
  • Help shape IT's approach to governing Agile/continuous delivery projects and how this differs from the current Waterfall-based governance methodology.
  • Partner closely with the IT Portfolio and Finance teams to develop and drive process improvements, automation and impactful partnering with IT Towers.


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • A proven track record of stakeholder management. The individual should have both the tact and ability to converse and when required challenge senior stakeholders.
  • A broad background in IT across various sectors, ideally with some exposure to retail.
  • Interest in new technologies and understanding how these can be used within the role and team.
  • Possess a highly developed communication skillset with the ability to manage conflicting views and opinions at a senior level as strategy is being developed.
  • Previous experience in an operational improvement-based role.
  • Exposure to IT and a project environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Prince 2 Practitioner or similar would be beneficial.
