Job Details

The Director of Logistics oversees operations, policies, objectives and initiatives for the Logistics/Warehouse department. Establishes department budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure. This role plans, directs, controls, coordinates, and evaluates efforts for the department and is responsible for ensuring product delivery to end customers. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, Customer Service, Production, Finance and IT for successful order processing and deliver. Coaches, trains, and mentors existing department managers. This role ensures successful order processing, KPIs and delivery by ensuring process implementation consistent with company and departmental goals. In addition, the Director of Logistics leads the continuous improvement, identification, and implementation of best practices, drives productivity and streamlines customer operations.

Duties:

  • Support and assist the VP of Operations with special projects, new business directives and infrastructure
  • Lead and manage the Logistics team, build and structure the department to support current business and future growth
  • Personnel coaching and training for best-in-class fulfillment, support in HR and personnel related matters
  • Continuously evaluate exiting process and ERP system with the initiative for best practices and KPIs
  • Evaluate, plan, manage and lead the monthly wholesale shipping forecast
  • Interact with internal partnering departments and external customers to ensure all order fulfillment requirements and company goals are met
  • Support new business initiatives through project management by creating process flow for International and domestic businesses
  • Evaluate, implement and sign off on routing guides and freight forwarding contracts
  • Oversee warehouse inventory planning
  • Evaluate and negotiate freight rates and packaging cost.
  • Work closely with the production and customer Service teams to ensure on time delivery and product allocation
  • Part of the leading committee for the new ERP system implementation as part of supply chain and Logistics
  • Lead, develop, and mentor direct reports and theirs teams in managing, coordinating and problem solving day-to-day operations

Skills/Qualifications:

  •  At least 10-15 years’ experience in a Director role of logistics and sales support in the apparel environment
  • Strong detail background in supply chain process evaluation and implementation 
  • Team driver with excellent supervisory and leadership skills
  • Outstanding time management, good judgment and ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines with a positive can-do attitude and attention to details
  • Organized and able to multitask 
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
  •  Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
  •  Ability to demonstrate proactive problems solving skills
  •   Ability to monitor staff performance, to provide feedback, and to develop employees
  •  Ability to create and maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of company forecasting goals
  • Demonstrates ability in managing shipping forecasting & distribution execution across a variety of sources.
  • Analytical, computer skills and know-how ability to obtain information from systems
  • Honest and forthright individual who is flexible, coachable, upfront and direct with direct reports, peers and management
