About the role

The Consumer Insights function at Gap Inc. is critical in driving customer centricity and ensuring the success and relevance of our businesses. Through rigorous analyses, creative thinking, and deep partnership with the business, we develop a customer-focused strategic direction for our company. The Insights team reports to the Head of Data and Analytics and into the Chief Digital & Technology Officer and provides strategic support to our CEO and Brand and Functional Leadership Teams.

As a Sr. Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving strategic consumer insights programs and projects that support Banana Republic's priorities, growth, and long-range plans. This role is part of the Brand Lead team at Banana Republic and will be primarily focused on delivering insights and influencing strategic initiatives for our brand partners. You will help to influence the business through primary and secondary research including research via our proprietary customer panel, Net Promoter tracking program, as well as ad hoc research projects to inform better decision-making around the product, marketing, experience, and innovation. By uncovering what consumers want, why they want it, and how to best meet their needs, you will help to deliver on the ongoing transformation to more customer-centric decision-making in the business. This role exposes you to a variety of areas including digital/store/omni-shopping experience, brand/digital marketing, apparel product, and strategy.

What you'll do

  • Skilled at conducting quantitative research and analyses (survey design, programming, analysis and reporting) as well as qualitative research and analyses (e.g., question design, synthesizing open-ended responses into themes)
  • Communicate effectively with business partners translating complex ideas into compelling, actionable recommendations and data visuals
  • Support cross-functional workstreams; able to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Collaborate across data and analytics team and other key functions to enhance insights and create a holistic view of the customer
  • Independently delivers on projects and assignments of diverse scope within the area of support under general guidance.


Who you are

  • 3-5+ years professional experience in Marketing Research, Consumer Insights, Strategy/Strategic Management consulting, and/or Analysis
  • A natural curiosity: always asking the next question and seeking to understand at the nuanced level to spark a new idea
  • Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills (ability to synthesize information into a clear, simple story and visualize data)
  • Proficient in programming & analyzing surveys using online survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey); Experience applying foundational statistical concepts
  • Positive attitude, scrappy 'get the job done'/can-do-anything, creative problem-solver that collaborates effectively with others
  • Experience partnering with/ managing research vendors to execute projects (or experience working at an insights research vendor)
