Job description

This is an opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to develop and drive the team on all operational activities. This role will be responsible for effectively assisting the Buyer & Product Developer in maintaining the critical path alongside close communication with supplier and manufacturers. This is a good opportunity to learn how a luxury buying department operates, exposing you to the full buying life cycle, offering a strong foundation for a career in luxury fashion buying.

The Role

  • Supporting the Buyer & Product Developer to help build a commercially viable product range that reflects the Pepa & Co brand image.
  • Managing the critical path from concept to pre-production with design and manufacturers. Identifying calling out and making recommendations to mitigate any risk/challenges identified at all stages.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with vendors, developing a strong working knowledge of vendor capability and availability to meet demands.
  • Providing general administrative support including up to date buy sheets, product creation is provided to accurately set-up products in the system, raise purchase orders and follow up on supplier payments.
  • Opportunity with support of Head Buyer to have responsibility of certain areas of the range.
  • Maintaining seasonal stock in terms of depth on sizes and re-order, actively monitoring products online, highlighting challenging styling and incorrect shots.
  • Working closely with design, marketing, ecommerce, and customer insight team to ensure effective communication is well maintained. Reporting back to the team relevant information and following up accordingly.
  • To constantly review competition to ensure our product proposition is in line with the market across all key areas: fashion trend, price, quality, and availability.
  • Constant analysis of the business, reporting on best and worst sellers across all categories to maximize sales and minimum risk.
  • Involvement in range planning, photoshoots, and marketing strategies.
  • Adaptable with enthusiasm to be part of small fast grown team.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of solid global experience in assistant buying role
  • Fashion related degree
  • Spanish speaking an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills: Excel
  • Experience in an online environment is highly desirable
  • Motivated self-starter who thrives in an exciting fast-paced environment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication
  • Ability to self-manage and work to set timescales
  • Awareness of childrenswear market and fashion trends
