About The Role

The Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for providing analytical, research and organizational support related to customs and trade compliance to further the Company’s efforts on new and existing product development and risk management. This candidate will act as a key contributor in one or more specific areas of the law such as HTS classification, and customs and duty compliance in different regions. Although the primary function is as a Trade expert, the job would expand into Vendor Compliance and other ad hoc projects as needed.

Job Responsibilities

    • Support in research and preparation of binding rulings, scope rulings, post-entry amendments, audits, internal reviews
    • HTS classification (US and International), schedule B assignment for all merchandise categories.
    • Provide support with tariff engineering or sourcing options to minimize import duties applicable and for international e-commerce orders
    • Maintains import and export related records
    • Assists and leads in process improvements and the implementation of compliance best practices
    • Support trade-related projects such as: system and process integration, import projects, modification, and or updates to trade compliance policies and procedures.
    • Works closely with cross-functional areas to address business concerns, plans and coordinates trade activities, and provide guidance to peers, management, and vendors
    • Work with the Fulfilment Center staff to monitor, report, and drive vendor compliance to ensure every vendor is following pre-determined guidelines.
    • A strong and extensive knowledge of North America and EU / UK trade laws and regulations is a plus.


Skills

    • Ability to use sound judgement to make effective decisions within context of compliance and be able to support decisions with facts and details
    • Ability to research, analyze complex regulations/laws and provide solutions to ensure the import/export compliance program supports business objectives
    • Team player who can build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with excellent problem-solving ability, who can assist with minimal guidance
    • Understanding and ability to communicate effectively with Customs Brokers, Logistics partners, and Customs Agents
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Exposure or experience in International Trade and Compliance
    • Preferably exposure or experience with apparel, footwear, and accessories classifications
