As the Head Strategy & Projects (w/m/d) you will be a key member of the Strategy and Projects team within Zalando’s Market organisation. You will be expected to develop and deliver on the key strategic projects of our Market organization. Typically, you will drive the identification and prioritization of the strategic priorities of all our countries for the coming years, bringing our Group Strategy to each of our Markets, with a localised and customer-centric mindset, while maintaining an operational, result-oriented focus in close collaboration with the wider markets team.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Identify and drive the development of strategic opportunities while tracking and evaluating market trends, developments and business opportunities
  • Lead cross-functional projects, co-develop detailed strategic recommendations for senior Leadership and SVP Markets
  • Build understanding of the market conditions and customer expectations, as well as the competitive environment in which Zalando operates, draw insights from facts and communicate findings to senior stakeholders
  • Co-development with key stakeholders the Market Strategy and Company’s Operational Plan; review and provide frameworks to ensure high quality discussions; develop an end-to-end understanding of the company by building relationships across the organization
  • Lead a team of 2-3 direct reports in the Market Strategy & Planning Team.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Economics or Engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years as a consultant in a top tier strategy consulting firm or in a strategy/commercial position in a large corporation, preferably in the ecommerce/fashion/tech environment
  • Track-record of developing easy to understand and highly impactful strategies to solve critical business problems.
  • Proven high-quality problem solving and outstanding analytical skills in a previous role; already demonstrated good capabilities in managing diverse groups of senior stakeholders in numerous project management experiences
  • Affinity for numbers, very comfortable in creating and calculating business cases, expertise in econometrics and quantitative modelling is a plus; passion for ecommerce/fashion/tech, and an understanding of online business models and current industry trends
  • Excellent business acumen, eager to learn and quick at grasping new topics and concepts, test common thinking and doesn’t shy away from digging deep into problems when needed with a sharp eye on the bigger picture
  • Proactive and action-oriented team player, highly organized, self-directed and motivated, with a passion to help junior team members develop, excellent communication skills, both written and oral; Business fluent English
