Senior Product Manager - Financial Transactions

As a Senior Product Manager within the Post Purchase team you will help make sure that our 41+ million customers have full transparency and understanding on how their order financials are made up, no matter how complex their transactions. These may involve applied coupons, returns and manual refunds.

You will work with a backend engineering team and business stakeholders from our payments and partner organisations, as well as corporate functions, to set the vision for a new and robust Accounting service that can scale with the needs and increasing complexity of our business.

  • You work primarily with 1 backend engineering team to design and deliver solutions that solve customer, partner, business and legal challenges within the problem space of financial transparency. .
  • You act as owner of your defined area: set a clear and compelling vision for the team that strives to improve existing legacy systems incrementally whilst providing new value to internal and external customers. You recommend relevant success metrics and track your team's impact against them.
  • You collaborate with other product and business areas across Zalando to identify meaningful customer and business problems within your product area, provide sound rationales when proposing which problems to focus on, and then move fast to successfully deliver on your ideas.
  • You participate in the broader Zalando Product community to grow in your craft and seek new opportunities for collaboration.

  • Several years of product management experience, preferably for mission-critical business systems with high scalability requirements and a broad number of internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a motivating vision for the team and their product landscape, and the ability to translate that vision for any audience, through well-crafted written documents (e.g. Press Releases), thorough requirements, and clear stakeholder communication.
  • An analytical mind with a high attention to detail who doesn't stop until a problem and all its use cases are fully discovered and understood.
  • A passionate problem-solver with high interest in legal and financial topics who collaborates naturally with engineering and business stakeholders to determine the simplest possible solution for complex problems.
  • A growth mindset, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business conditions, working to continuously improve ways of working within the team itself, and with their internal partners.
  • Prior experience working in a FinTech company, or elsewhere within the accounting domain is considered a plus.
