What we are looking for: We are searching for a Mobile Engineering Manager who can lead with empathy, inspire our iOS and Android teams, and who wants to stay hands-on with some development as well. You will own all mobile development for our content creators. You will be responsible for conducting, leading and coordinating software development activities throughout the product lifecycle as well as managing the day-to-day activities of the development team within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Guide and evolve SDLC processes so that solutions meet specified requirements (e.g. business requirements, company standards, quality, availability, and performance expectations)
- Identify and pursue improvements in engineering and organizational processes, gathering and using data to support and guide continuous growth in product excellence and engineering productivity.
- Recruit and hire software and quality engineers.
- Establish and monitor objectives for all employees by providing regular feedback, coaching, training and development that fosters both personal and organizational growth.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Support, Marketing, and Executive Management to ensure the development team meets objectives with high quality.
- Contribute to development, reviews, and maintenance of new features, product requirements documents, technical design documents and functional specifications
Leadership Experience Required:
- Proven experience shipping code early and often.
- At least 3+ years in leadership roles with a proven and consistent history of leading developers.
- Knowledge and skills needed to drive projects and workflow throughout discrete stages of their lifecycle.
Work Management/Communication:
- In-depth knowledge of Agile as well as more traditional strategic project planning methodologies and best practices.
- Exceptional in communicating complex ideas so they can be easily understood by all levels of the organization, as well as key stakeholders and investors.
- Basic project management experience (i.e. Jira Board Management)
- Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills to mediate priority conflicts in an effective and collaborative manner
- Must work well under pressure, be sensitive to deadlines, be able to interact in a team environment, be able to adapt quickly to change, and possess good customer service skills.
Platform Technical Skills:
- Proficient in at least one mobile platform (iOS, Android)
- Proficient in at least one programming language (Swift, or Kotlin)
- Ability to architect an innovative, high quality mobile application
