Software Engineers in the Growth Org build and iterate on product and internal systems to improve our customer activation, conversion, and retention. We build merchant-facing products to generate leads, and build tools and platforms which enable internal teams to identify, experiment, optimize and launch high-impact initiatives at scale. We work in a fast-paced environment and have the opportunity to work on both existing products and to build new products from the ground up. You can learn more in the video below

We're looking for Software Engineers with a passion for solving complex problems with performant code.Our teams deploy new code many times a day, and our production scale is massive.We are ingesting hundreds of thousands of search results, and hundreds of millions of requests a day. A unique --and critical-- aspect of Growth Engineering is that your projects will directly impact active merchant growth - a critical success metric for Shopify, and a highly significant figure reported regularly during public quarterly reports. Experience and skills that are important for success in this role

• Building full-stack web services using several languages and frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Java/JEE, Node.js, PHP, Python, GraphQL, Node.js, React, Golang) - Don't have experience with many of them? No problem - deep experience with any object-oriented language and willingness to learn our tech stack goes a long way
  
• Working with Rails or the desire to learn it quickly
  
• Building and scaling applications using different technologies
  
• Persistence in exploring green fields and building something from scratch
  
• A passion for helping growing development teams and making others better
  
• A commitment and drive for quality, excellence, and results balanced with a creative mindset
  

Additional beneficial experience
