Job Details

The Partner Solutions Engineer is responsible for enabling enterprise agencies in Japan to ensure they are fully aware of the Shopify platform from a technical perspective. This will be delivered via engagements including onboarding, certification, ongoing training, and consulting. You will break down technical barriers so our Partners can offer more effective services around our platform for high growth, high volume merchants, leading to faster revenue growth.
You will also have the opportunity to engage directly with our Partners, in particular their technical and sales teams to have high level solutions-focused discussions around the Shopify platform, their technology stack and their merchant's overall goals.

Qualifications

Requirements for the Role
  • Experience in enterprise ecommerce, digital agencies, solutions engineering, or customer onboarding roles, including experience supporting a wide variety of industries, verticals and business types.
  • Become an expert on Shopify's capabilities, application ecosystem and integrations.
  • The ability to educate and align partners on Shopfiy's commerce vision, roadmap and approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - you will interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, and can effectively facilitate and manage interactions with numerous stakeholders.
  • Analytical capabilities with an understanding of ecommerce best practices, the commerce ecosystem, industry trends, technology vendor landscape, integrations and systems architecture.
  • Development experience. You'll be speaking often with developers and technology teams and need to be able to speak their language. (Liquid, Ruby, JS, HTML, CSS etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL). Partners often want to create custom apps; it's your role to let them know what's possible, where to start, and what the best path to implementation is.
  • Experience with Liquid, the Shopify templating language.
  • Familiarity with development lifecycles, version control systems and development environments (git/Github is a plus).
  • A solutions mindset - our largest and most advanced Partners like to push the boundaries of commerce and will often custom build solutions to help their merchants achieve their goals.
  • A commercial mindset - you are able to look past the pure technical implementation to understand the broader business and commercial application.
  • A trainer at heart - you love enabling others to be the best they can be.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills to support a range Partners with multiple concurrent requests, and the ability to reprioritise on an ongoing basis.
  • The ability to thrive on change, work well as part of a team and as an individual contributor, as well as the flexibility to work locally, regionally and globally in a matrixed organisation. We evolve at a rapid pace and things change quickly, sometimes even daily!

Responsibilities
  • Understanding and communicating the competitive strengths of Shopify to our partners.
  • Educating and onboarding prospective partners by working with the different partnership teams to determine the right technical learning path for any given partner, and then being available to help them overcome challenges as they work through them.
  • Contributing to programs and playbooks that allow for the enablement of partners at scale.
  • Deliver tailored training sessions to strategic partners.
  • Collaborating with internal Shopify teams to improve partner and merchant experiences and develop internal technical knowledge.
  • Supporting partnership teams in validating the technical claims of a partner's value proposition and identifying the relevant audience for that partner.
  • Identifying and participating in case studies and events that increase partner pipeline.
  • Speak and attend events to evangelise Shopify to current & prospective partners and technical audiences.
