About the Role

The Planner, Inventory Strategy, Reporting is responsible for creating and improving reporting to the Inventory Strategy and Digital Merchandising teams to ensure achievement of Old Navy Online financial plans and brand strategies. This person works in collaboration with the Director of Inventory Strategy to develop and improve tools and processes that support the ever-changing business needs, including the seasonal Buy Plan process, the in-season financial strategies and processes, Brand promotional roll ups, monthly Open to Buy forecast rolls and meetings, and weekly Business recapping. The planner will work closely with Digital Merchant partners to gain feedback and insight into the best approach to provide insightful reporting and analyses.

What You'll Do

  • Process: Weekly Reporting
  • Responsible for executing weekly reporting suite including sending out weekly communication upon report completion.
  • Maintain, streamline and update templates seasonally as necessary including updating merchandise hierarchies and incorporating team feedback.
  • Create ad-hoc, with a focus on sustainable, templates by request of Digital Merchants (DM) as necessary.
  • Seasonal Buy Planning: Responsible for quarterly creation, updating and adoption of tools that support the seasonal buy planning process from SAM (Seasonal Alignment Meeting) to IR (Investment Review).
  • Support the DM org ad hoc requests to build reporting as necessary. Incorporate frequent requests into possible future templates if necessary.
  • Learn and become an expert in all planning systems and acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for the DM org.
  • Monthly Forecasting: Coordinate and execute monthly brand rollup forecast from DM team. Work with Manager on crafting synopsis of forecast including identifying risks/opportunities from a bottoms-up perspective compared to Company Planning Tops Down forecast.
  • Learn and become expert in PFT (forecasting tool) and act as a SME for the team regarding tool set up and use.
  • Use Essbase knowledge to help create recaps and tools for easy, quick assessment of the forecasts for Digital Merchants and IS team, including cover sheets at various levels, including all key metrics.
  • Pricing Process: Learn and understand Old Navy Online (ONOL) pricing process from Commercial Plan strategy to Site Execution to gain context on how the Pricing tool and process works (GPT and PEM system).
  • Become functional expert of pricing tool and work with IS Pricing Lead on Brand pricing rollups to provide quick and easy to use assessment tools.
  • Improvement and Streamlining: Continuously look for ways of improving and communicating recaps and reports for new views of the business to drive the business and enable teams to read and react quickly.
  • Create relationships with Omni and Store partners to gain context on reporting approaches and improvements. Understand bests ways to share business information.
  • Business Meetings : Attend and participate in weekly business meetings to gain context on business needs, shifting priorities and new opportunities to delve into business questions.
  • Ad-hoc Projects
  • Work with manager to prioritize and execute ad-hoc dataeporting/project requests in a timely manner.


Who You Are

  • Oracle Essbase/Smartview
  • Advanced Excel functions and formulas
  • MicroStrategy or similar Business Intelligence data sourcing
  • Background in data analysis and ability to manipulate large data sets into concise headlines
  • Can provide examples of created or optimized reports
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Merchandise Planning is a plus.
  • 2-4 years work experience, retail or e-commerce experience preferred
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and able to handle simultaneous projects independently
  • Agile and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • General basic knowledge of financial and business indicators, interest and ability for quantitative analysis
  • Advanced Data manipulation in Excel (Power Query, Tables) a plus
  • Visual Basic knowledge a plus
  • SQL database knowledge a plus
