GAUGE81 is a young fast-growing fashion start-up based on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. Through the use of striking angles and playful proportions, GAUGE81 (pronounced GO-SH eighty-one) blurs the line between evening and casual wear. 

Our activities include everything from the design, sourcing and manufacturing of the collections as well as marketing and PR. Our clients include Net a Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Moda Operandi and Brown’s Fashion.

As our Buying & Production Coordinator, you’ll be the right hand of our Buying & Production Manager and will support our Buying and Production teams in all daily activities. 

As Buying & Production Coordinator, your activities include the following: 

  • Preparing and updating the Buying Overview  
  • Preparing and placing Purchase Orders 
  • Daily contact with our suppliers worldwide to push for on-time deliveries
  • Travel with the Buying & Production Manager to factories 
  • Review Quality Control reports
  • Ensuring tight deadlines are met
  • Negotiate deliveries to ensure consistent and early flow of goods and meet planning requirements
  • Negotiate prices to reach our target margins
  • Booking in the release of deliveries, keeping track of critical path 
  • Alerting the team to any delivery issues
  • Maintain and develop a good relationship with our suppliers
  • Monitor delivery times and process packing lists
  • Support Buying and Production with ad-hoc queries

Who you are:

  • HBO degree 
  • A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in Buying and Production in Fashion
  • Strong organizational & communication skills
  • Stress-resilient and solution oriented 
  • A strong eye for detail, great organizational skills and works to a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to set priorities & multi-task
  • A keen interest in the fashion industry 
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and a flexible approach to learning
  • Excellent system skills (especially Excel)
  • Willing and able to travel to suppliers
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced demanding environment 
  • Demonstrates initiative and follows through completely on all aspects of a project
  • Professional level of English required (both verbal and in writing)
  • Able to work full-time at our office located in the city centre of Amsterdam
