JOB DESCRIPTION

The Product Development Assistant is responsible for supporting the Design and Product Development team with the overall development process of all styles from initial research through production.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with designers to ensure that the product styling and fit is consistent with current market trends and identify new trends.
  • Check in and measure all fit samples and communicate all changes to factories
  • Begin sketches and continuously update all sketches from concept to bulk
  • Make sample and bulk sample and trim comments to factory
  • Complete lab dip comments and approvals to the factory
  • Support the development process according to time and action deadlines
  • Ultimately create and edit tech packs – including sketches and BOM
  • Research and development of all pre-style development including; pre-costing, fabrics, washes, mock-up, drapes, tailoring bodies, trims and prints
  • Research and compile reports, trend forecasts and competitive analysis
  • Coordinate the management of sample invoices and fabric information
  • Manage sample maintenance for all of Product.
  • Tracking and sending Fedex/UPS/DHL packages from vendors
  • Maintaining and updating development charts for weekly review
  • Market research

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of the apparel business
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Knowledge of garment construction
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • An eye for future fashion trends
  • Bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles or related field
