JOB PURPOSE

Supporting the Senior Manager, Employee Relations, and the wider HR team and business in the delivery of the ER strategy/plan for the business, you will play a key role in making Burberry a great place to work.

You will act as a key partner to business leaders and HRBPs, advising on the implications of short and long-term decisions and ensuring that policies, processes and practices are consistently applied across your client group and the wider organisation. You will plan and implement ER processes, plans, programmes and tools with HRBPs and business leaders to build and enhance organisational capability. You will instil confidence in leaders, through effective coaching and contribute to the development of leadership. All while role modelling the Burberry values and protecting the culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use in-depth understanding of our people, our business and our values and knowledge of local legislation/markets to tailor advice and find the best way to achieve objectives taking into account risk and commercial implications
  • Identify and manage risks within the employee relations remit - see, spot, mitigate, eliminate and escalate where appropriate.
  • Be the main point of contact for your stakeholder group to provide specialist employee relations advice on a wide range of topics, including disciplinary, capability, grievance and absence matters.
  • Manage a caseload of employee relations matters, including carrying out investigations, where required
  • Build the trust and confidence of leaders to enable them to make informed decisions, do the right thing and achieve operational goals
  • Support leaders to effectively manage and engage their teams and provide colleagues with an equitable and consistent experience that is in line with our values
  • Use data and insights to influence policy, ensure consistency of approach and monitor the colleague experience.
  • Participate in HR policy review, identifying gaps and improvements and creating global and local policies
  • Take a proactive approach to employee relations by identifying higher-level employee relations trends, adopting a lessons learnt approach and recommending solutions. Partner with HRBPs and leadership on execution.
  • Provide insights and expertise that support efforts across the HR function to make targeted interventions, changes and enhancements
  • Support HRBP's in driving and managing organisational change effectively, such as restructuring (ER systems, policies, template documents, training and guidance)
  • Provide coaching and guidance to ER Advisors on more complex cases.




    PERSONAL PROFILE

    • Strong knowledge of employment law and its application; able to apply knowledge in a way that is commercial and pragmatic
    • Good understanding and practical experience of complex employee relations procedures and processes
    • Experience of working in partnership with leaders and other HR professionals
    • Experience of autonomously and pragmatically managing complex cases
    • Experience of working in a large, complex global organisation
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop strong internal relationships in order to implement change
    • Track record of working as part of a team, as well as the ability to work on own initiative
    • Well-developed diplomacy, influencing and listening skills and experience of providing 'friendly challenge'
    • Strives for excellence and always looks to improve the service offered to stakeholders
