ALIX  NYC is seeking a strong candidate to manage the Product Development team for our contemporary Womenswear clothing from start to finish. The Product Development candidate will work closely with design, sales/planning, and production teams to manage all aspects of the development process for all seasonal collections.

Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Design team to fulfill design needs by sourcing materials and ensuring the highest possible standard of make while achieving target prices
  • Owns and drives development milestone dates to guarantee the on-time transition to production
  • Manage development process; allocate and prioritize workflow for Pattern Makers, tech designers and sample room for development
  • Comment on development samples with an emphasis on quality and fit from proto stage to pre-production stage
  • Attend weekly fittings, take comments and provide proactive and focused input to ensure further production processes run smoothly
  • Manage costing process and analysis of margins
  • Responsible for the product data input and continuous updates in our internal system RLM
  • Maintain and build relationships with suppliers through frequent communication on daily operations and regular travels to domestic factories to ensure accurate product management and timely delivery of sampling
  • Works closely with design to resolve major approval issues to maintain cost and calendar dates
  • Ensures quality and on time delivery of protos and sales samples
  • Schedule and attend vendor appointments seasonally
  • Assist in trend forecasting, trend research and competitive research
  • Manage cut tickets and pattern hand off to factories
  • Manage and upkeep the organization of development patterns - digitally and physically
  • Technical drawing and organization of technical flat library
  • Manage the documentation of development yields and final yields for production
  • Track and manage development trim and fabric inventory
  • Supplier management, ensuring clarity of information for sampling
  • Manage BOM handoff to production manager seasonally
  • Work with Pattern Maker and tech team on specs from development to TOP
  • Manage Tech Pack library

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years experience in a product development role, preferably from high-end fashion brands
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Excellent time management and project skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
  • In depth knowledge of garment manufacturing, including construction, fit, fabrication, trim and printing techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate proactive problem solving skills
  • Strong costing and negotiating skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and determination to get things done.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with creative thinking skills
  • Humility and eagerness to learn and grow
