As a Community Specialist, you will work inside the New York Shopify physicalspacehelping merchants both in-person and virtually. You'll be hosting merchants and supporting their growth via events, 1:1 meetings, educational workshops, and much more.

Alongside your team, you will build a community, listen, teach, problem solve, and explore growth opportunities with Shopify merchants in-person. As part of that growth, you'll be there to connect merchants with potential new features or plans to ensure they get the most out of the Shopify platform.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of the Shopify platform, its product, and services, in order to empower merchants with tailored solutions for their businesses.
  • Provide 1-on-1 business development coaching and technical support to merchants on the Shopify platform both in-person and remotely.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate educational experiences such as workshops and live webinars.
  • Proactive outreach to local communities with the purpose of uplifting merchants and strengthening brand awareness. Establish relationships with local community Business Centers (Business Improvement Areas, Chamber of Commerce, Incubators etc.)
  • Hosting events for merchants to help them begin their entrepreneurial dream with Shopify; re-platform their existing business with Shopify; and grow their knowledge in marketing, automation, and everything related to running a successful business!
  • Staying up to date with all aspects of the Shopify ecosystem, including but not limited to, e-commerce, Shopify app store, Retail POS [Hardware & Technical]
  • Regular space maintenance, such as tracking hardware inventory, event set-up and take-down, cleaning
  • May include some travel to off-site events

Experience:
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Works well under pressure, identifying root causes in order to solve technical issues
  • Can work in-person at the New York physical space as well as remote video support
  • Previous experience providing exceptional customer service or support
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week includes holidays and weekends) between the operating hours of 8:00 am - 11:00 pm EST.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and hosting events
  • Are committed to continuous growth and learning. You understand that every challenge is an opportunity and you get excited about learning new things.
  • Familiarity with gCal and project management software.
