JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Technology Strategy role provides a considerable opportunity for leading and driving our technology transformation journey, and set ambitious goals for the technology organization. We are looking for an independent thinker who makes convincing, balanced, and data driven decisions. While our technology strategy is a key enabler of our corporate strategy, we want to go further through transforming and leading. We need to define highly ambitious, yet achievable roadmaps and mechanisms to deliver against our priorities and measure success. The Director, Technology Strategy will be supporting up a best-in-class technology transformation operating model and organization and serve as a liaison across stakeholders.

The Director, Technology Strategy will provide strategic and operational support for key projects and initiatives to maximize the effectiveness of the company and brand. He/She will work with and across all channels and functions to manage and drive operational directives, research and analyze business opportunities, and support strategic and operational initiatives as a support to the CTO.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable thinking strategically and diving deep; a forward-thinking leader who can identify opportunities, influence and leverage the team to translate them into live solutions.

Beyond end-to-end technology strategy, there will be specific agendas and transformations where the Director, Technology Strategy will be more closely involved due to the strategic imperative of that agenda. He/She will play a critical role in initiatives that have multiple inter-dependencies, driving alignment, connecting "dots", and resolving complex issues. This leader will, in partnership with his/her peers, guide the overall maturation and modernization of our technical capabilities, staying aligned or even ahead of technology trends to be ready for what the future brings. He/She will also ensure it remains aligned with specific business outcomes, both around growth and operational effectiveness.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate and lead the annual refresh of our technology strategy and long-range plan (LRP)
  • Translate strategies into actionable programs and execute them flawlessly within the line of business and engineering organization by means of exceptional organization and influencing skills
  • Leverage internal and external research to define and drive alignment on annual updates to the technology strategy as well as the supporting the overall operations of the Technology team
  • Helps establish governance structure where decision-making is weighted toward empowered teams along with setting up a metric driven organization with key KPIs that drive transparency of technology improvements
  • Break down top-down priorities to influence bottoms-up plans, working closely with Technology leaders
  • Responsible for running the portfolio management and partnering with the finance teams to ensure budgets and plans align with and progress the technology strategy
  • Help shape way forward, structure a path through interdependencies and drive alignment.
  • Establish delivery mechanisms (delivery of project, products, and platforms)
  • Drives growth for the business by applying technical and domain expertise to provide thought leadership and translate vision into action
  • Evaluates research and market analysis, meets with third party vendors, and maintains knowledge, always seeking for new opportunities or partnerships along with various areas of the business (HR, Finance, Retail, etc.)


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Bachelor's degree or commiserate work experience, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years in corporate technology strategy and/or strategy consulting, 7+ years of experience delivering technology programs using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe) and 3+ years of experience in a Top Tier management consulting firm preferred
  • Experience in retail, merchandising or consumer-facing businesses preferred, worked in a matrixed organizational environment
  • Creative strategic thinker and problem-solver.
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments, adapts easily to change and is continuously identifying opportunities to improve
  • Excellent project management, analytical skills, detail-oriented and solid financial acumen
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills including ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Able to work under pressure and collaborate quickly, effectively and efficiently while building relationships across all functions and levels within the organization
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan
  • Ability to connect both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, cultivate entrepreneurship
