Job Description

We are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant who will report to the Assistant Financial Controller as part of our Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC) team based in Haywards Heath.

Your opportunity

Your role will be to work with the Financial Controller and Asst. Financial Controller supporting the Balenciaga and Brioni brands' UK operations.

How you will contribute
  • Reviewing invoice coding
  • Business expense processing
  • Support in VAT return preparation - export sales checks and C79 reconciliations
  • Intercompany statement reconciliations - issuing i/c receivable statements and reconciling i/c payables
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Helping prepare responses to audit requests
  • Liaising with stores on a range of finance matters
  • Prepayments and accruals accounting
  • Asset accounting
  • Sales certification
  • National statistics reporting
  • Retail partner concession reconciliation and resolution of issues
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Validating AR postings


Who you are
  • Minimum part AAT qualified
  • Good excel skills
  • Exposure to SAP ideal but not essential
  • Retail experience beneficial
  • Exposure to VAT accounting would be preferable although not essential
  • Previous experience in an Accounting /Accounts Payable background
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear and concise communication
  • Ability to keep the team informed of progress whilst working independently
  • Confidence in asking questions, confirming understanding of processes and problem solving.
  • Good grasp of accounting/tax concepts and their application or willingness to learn quickly
  • Taking responsibility for completion of work allocated
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple deadlines
  • Pro-activity in suggesting process improvements
  • Flexible approach to working in a fast paced environment
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
