JOB PURPOSE

To provide high quality, commercially focused, value added legal advice to support the execution of key business strategies

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide day to day legal and business support to Burberry's business units in the Americas on all commercial matters
- Structure, negotiate, draft and advise on commercial agreements and transactions with a particular focus on general commercial matters, including IT agreements, services agreements, licensing agreements, concession agreements, distribution agreements, marketing agreements, construction agreements, franchise agreements and vendor / non-stock agreements
- Provide strategic advice on any other general commercial matters such as distribution arrangements, procurement, supply chain issues and data protection matters
- Review and advise on various other corporate agreements and real estate leases
- Assist on corporate secretarial matters, managing numerous domestic and global entities of the Company
- Retain and manage outside counsel in international markets where appropriate

PERSONAL PROFILE

- Closely collaborate with partners across the business
- Work closely with members of the Americas and Global Legal team to support a broad range of projects

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

- Delivering pragmatic advice and developing strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Managing legal risk and giving proactive advice in order to reduce exposure
- Reducing external legal spend where possible
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience at a large law firm and/or in-house with relevant commercial transactional experience
- Admitted to practice law in New York
- Candidate should have strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Candidate should have the ability to communicate complex legal topics effectively and clearly to internal stakeholders
- Candidate should be able to operate with minimal supervision and in direct contact with internal stakeholders.
- Strong academic credentials essential
- In-house experience preferable
