A little bit about the role

When you work for us, you’re more than a placement student – you join our rapidly expanding Gymshark family. We give people the tools they need to reach further, go faster and be the best version of themselves. We work hard, sure, but we have fun while we do it. Sound like you?     

We are looking for an undergraduate to join our Design function for an exciting 13-month placement starting in July 2022. Working with the Design Team helping create graphics and print from initial concept to completion for apparel. This is an opportunity to learn design excellence. You will learn how to build an aesthetic, technical and commercial awareness combined with a curious and creative outlook alongside the ability to work within a team. 

What you’ll be doing

You will gain experience in the following areas: 

Day-to-day   

  • Learn the day-to-day planning of seasonal workload 
  • Collaborate with wider team to ensure there is a synergy between apparel collections where necessary     
  • Support with the research of market trends and influences     
  • Assist with design admin - producing print ready artworks and actioning design amends     

Graphic Design   

  • Research into emerging trends in graphics and print     
  • Learn how the brand DNA, creative direction and seasonal strategies are implemented through all concepts and designs.     
  • You will have the opportunity to learn how to create graphic artworks and all over print for both Men’s and Women’s collections, from initial concept to completion.     
  • Work closely with development counterparts to problem solve in product execution     
  • Support in the delivery of design deadlines and key development dates in the critical path     
  • Learn how to present research and design concepts effectively     
  • Work with design leads and Product Management team to learn how to create graphics that the consumer will love 
  • Work with product briefs from Product Management, defining clear purpose and intent behind each graphic concept     
  • Learn how to deliver and execute compelling product story telling which give our consumer ‘The Reason to Believe’     
  • Support the team to deliver seasonal designs on time at 25% - 50% - 100% review stages     
  • Learn to work to execute product briefs, as delivered by Product Management 
  • Receive and utilise constructive feedback on design work from peers     

Demonstrate   

  • Understanding the commercial impact of design decisions made during the product creation process     
  • Develop confidence in decision making and presenting work at internal Product Sign offs   

What you’ll need

  • Effective communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment  
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively   
  • Have successfully completed the penultimate year of your chosen degree 
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to deliver unique design work to a high standard     
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop  
  • Knowledge of repeat patterns and print techniques 
  • Passion for designing for clothing  
  • Willingness to learn

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you'll be invited to take part in a video screening and if successful, you'll be invited to an in person assessment day. Our assessment days will be held at Gymshark HQ, Solihull, UK at the beginning of December. 

Job applications open on 11th October 2021 and close on 24th October 2021.  

Placement is for 13 months from July 2022.
