Job Details

Shopify's Growth team is focused on bringing Shopify to the world and helping entrepreneurs succeed. The Business Operations team solves some of Shopify's most complex and ambiguous challenges through problem solving and execution. We work cross-functionally to help simplify, define the infrastructure and implement the most efficient use of company resources.

You'll be responsible for providing reports and information to help identify gaps, track and maintain assignments, and partner closely with other operational partners to ensure accurate forecast data is reflected in our systems. This position requires strong organizational and planning skills, excellent prioritization and communication skills, and the use of discretion and good judgment. This is an opportunity to use your analytical, organization, and prioritization skills to contribute to making commerce better for everyone...everywhere!

We care about growing creative, collaborative people, and strong, capable teams. Your peers in Shopify's Growth team have diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and experiences but share an established track record of driving significant business growth. This role will require you to build strong relationships and partnerships with teams of different disciplines, in many regions and at all levels.

If you enjoy solving complex, ambiguous problems through structure, data-driven insights, and creativity, then read on.

You'll get to do things like:

  • Engage with stakeholders and leaders across various teams in the Growth organization to solve challenges related to investment planning.
  • Dive into Shopify's existing data platforms and leverage data to identify risks, trends, and solutions.
  • Follow up on data investigations.
  • Build custom data dashboards and explain complex ideas in a concise, easy-to-understand manner for all audiences.
  • Lead weekly Business Operations meetings and distribution of weekly reports.
  • Establish, maintain, and evolve predictable standards of communication.
  • Lead change management initiatives in support of new workflow architecture.
  • Support workforce strategy and operations by partnering with Talent to help align investments back to business goals.
  • Ensure the right people are involved in critical decisions both within the Growth team and the rest of Shopify.

Qualifications

You'll need to have:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated track record of leveraging data to drive impact.
  • Strong attention to detail and skilled in reporting; ensures data is accurate and reliable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Systems thinking approach with a strong focus on outcomes, not just action. You understand what drives the business and how growth and technology can accelerate it.
  • Plans and organizes proactively, ability to prioritize and adapt when required.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset to deliver impact in ambiguous environments.
  • A can-do attitude; no task will be too small or big for you.
  • Business operations or growth strategy experience in a high-growth technology organization.

It'd be great if you also had:
  • Experience with operations management or project management in a Growth team.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Experience with SQL.
