Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics is seeking a Commercial Director - Rest of World (RoW), fixed term contract, up to 12 months.  This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, international, and fast-growing luxury skincare brand, playing a crucial commercial role. The Commercial Director will be responsible for all aspects of sales, business development, strategy, trade marketing, team management and execution for the wholesale channel in the territory - UK, EMEA and APAC.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic joint business plans for retailers across all wholesale channels (bricks and clicks), identifying key building blocks, including a deep understanding of the retailer, the consumer and the business driving lever; to achieve both sales and profit targets, whilst building brand equity and developing RoW business
  • Deliver projected net and retail sales forecasts, and manage budgets with local heads of function
  • Identify and develop new opportunities for growth, including new channels to market (e.g., retail, spa, online, wholesale)
  • Lead commercial negotiations, including key trading terms, new agreements, re-negotiations, cost share, counter space, location, and new door openings
  • Establish and manage strong and durable key client relationships with all retail and key partners
  • Lead strategy and market meetings with key partners, including presenting NPD with relevant team
  • Lead discussions/follow up with retailers and the organization around multi brand operational issues or individual brand commercial issues where support is required, including stock investment, promotional support, marketing initiatives and pricing
  • Work closely with DBS Operational teams; and partner with DBS in house registration team to provide necessary documentation for new launches or new markets
  • Lead store design counter projects with DBS directors’ architects and project manager or agencies
  • Forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual net sales, basic replenishment needs, new products placement in conjunction with Commercial team
  • Analyze retail reports for the region; optimize performance and identify key areas of opportunity, including stock holding analysis. Monitor performance, targets and KPI’s
  • Management and responsible for region P&L
  • Manage pricing and conversion strategy
  • Jointly manage the RoW Trade Marketing team and local Commercial Heads of, to execute agreed joint business plans in the region
  • Lead a high performing senior team


Personal Profile

  • Experienced leader with at least 6 years’ experience in commercial leadership roles in a luxury environment, preferably Beauty
  • Effective leadership and people management skills; leading remote team
  • Strong commercial acumen, with excellent numeracy, analytical, forecasting and (contract) negotiating skills
  • Ability to influence, and build winning relationships with partners
  • Collaborator and communicator
  • Consumer-centric and service-oriented approach
  • Solutions driven and results oriented with versatile and adaptive working style
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, and a ‘Can do’, ‘hands on ‘approach
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Based in UK or Europe
  • Language skills, advantageous
