At Shopify, we leverage a diverse landscape of SaaS-based and custom developed applications to help us ship, and scale the business. As the IT team, we work hard to ensure that employees are equipped with the right technology they need to do this work.

Whether it's managing software or hardware assets, internal identity and access management flows or employee Helpdesk support, our team focuses on discovering, analyzing and solving for opportunities within these spaces through a digital by design lens.

As an Engineering Program Manager, you'll dive deep into some of these areas, coming up with creative, data-driven solutions and delivering them by working alongside our embedded development and operational teams.

With an ever-expanding ecosystem of technology used internally, you'll need to quickly gather context on existing workflows, while also researching what we have yet to explore or build. We are looking for someone who enjoys keeping up to date on the newest technology and exploring creative ways of using it.

Here's what you can expect from the role - an opportunity to:
  • Deep dive into a new product or initiative to surface and analyze its impact on IT
  • Improveexisting technical IT processes through health checks and feedback loops with key internal stakeholders
  • Implementtripwires and identifypriorities for our operational teams
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen IT products and services throughout their lifecycle - before, during, and after they ship
  • Maintainvendor relationships and workto influence their roadmaps
  • Writerelease plans and end user documentation to support our growing organization
  • Apply data to better inform IT decisions at scale
  • Actively lookfor opportunities to automate tasks to increase team efficiency


Qualifications

Interested in applying? You should have experience with one or more of the following (don't stress, we are not expecting experience in all of the following!):
  • Stakeholder management
  • Project management and setting OKRs
  • Vendor management
  • Implementing new technology organizational wide, tracking and driving adoption
  • Data storytelling and strategic thinking
  • Identifying procedural gaps in order to drive continuous improvement
  • Working closely with development teams and running stories in sprints
  • Ruby or other programming languages, or a desire to learn
  • Writing SQL queries
  • Translating technical jargon and complicated concepts into something simple, accurate and understandable
