RnD Discovery is our 30-day onboarding experience, designed to accelerate the impact of new hires on our R&D teams. Through a unique blend of instructor-led training and self-paced learning, our program ensures new engineers, data scientists, product managers and user experience designers develop deep product knowledge and discipline-specific technical depth quickly, setting them up for success across the length of their Shopify journey.

As one of our three Regional Leads for RnD Discovery, you will own the end-to-end operations of our onboarding program, ensuring a top-notch experience for 100+ new hires per month across our four RnD disciplines. You will be responsible for building and managing a team of facilitators and program coordinators to ensure consistent, high quality program delivery week over week, year over year. You'll own capacity planning, staffing, hiring, onboarding and performance management of regional delivery teams as well as outcomes tracking and reporting to ensure we stay on track and graduate participants ready for impact on their Shopify teams.

As a member of the RnD Discovery leadership team, you'll define best practices, standards, and processes for the program across the globe. You'll develop strategic partnerships with leaders in RnD in your region and influence our global program design.

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of RnD Discovery in your region, ensuring consistent qualityand reliable achievement of program outcomes across all onboarding cohorts.
  • Meet or exceed program benchmarks for participant satisfaction, engagement,completion and job readiness for every cohort delivered within your region.
  • Leveraging program staffing models, own capacity planning, staffing, onboarding, andperformance management of facilitators and program coordinators in your region.
  • As a member of the RnD Discovery leadership team, contribute to best practices andquality standards for program team members. Support the development and scaling oftraining, evaluation, and playbooks for your team.
  • Drive the ongoing maintenance and iterative improvement of our existing courses and workshops, and serve as a key partner in the design of new program offerings.
  • Develop relationships with technical leaders in your region and drive the implementationof technical onboarding solutions to address their needs.


  • Prior experience leading a highly effective training, facilitation, or learning delivery team in a corporate or adult learning setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage hiring, onboarding, training and evaluation of instructional and/or program delivery teams.
  • Expertise with best practices for program operations, including process design, participant engagement, and program evaluation.
  • Experience and comfort working cross-functionally to deliver great learning experiences, partnering with different teams and individual contributors within a large corporate setting to get things done.
  • Working knowledge of key technical concepts and skills relevant to Shopify employee needs including software development, data science, UX and/or product management. Fluency in technical topics at the level of being able to interact effectively with learners, stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Prior experience delivering programs remotely to distributed cohorts of participants.
  • The ability to thrive in an environment where experimentation is encouraged and you are confident in creating, executing and championing those experiments.

Bonus Experience:
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in one or more technical disciplines: software development, data science, UX and/or product management.
  • 5 - 10 years experience as a trainer or facilitator in a corporate or adult learning setting, with demonstrated ability to deliver top-notch instructor-led experiences that engage participants and move the needle on learning growth and/or deep expertise working with adult learning facilitators and the ability to coach and grow facilitators over time.
  • Prior experience successfully managing remote/distributed teams.
  • Strong network of potential facilitator and program coordinator candidates in your region.
