A little bit about the role

When you work for us, you're more than a placement student - you join our rapidly expanding Gymshark family. We give people the tools they need to reach further, go faster and be the best version of themselves. We work hard, sure, but we have fun while we do it. Sound like you?    

We are looking for a second-year university student to join the Creative team as a student placement for a 13-month student placement starting in July 2022. Our Creative student placement will allow you to develop your skills within the Creative team, working alongside video, production, retouch, artwork and campaign functions. 

In the Creative team, our internship offers a huge range of opportunities depending on your skillset, ambitions, and willingness to learn; as a member of the Creative team, you will support with taking a concept from initial ideas to a full-fledged campaign, helping to direct and develop along the way. From concept creation and development, art directing photoshoots, developing brand copy, storyboarding videos, location scouting, retouch, postproduction, graphic design, critical path management, and more.

What you'll be doing
You will gain experience in the following areas:
  • Gain a clear understanding of industry processes and standard in both digital and print design. 
  • Support the Design team with the development of graphic identity's in both internal comms and wider campaigns. 
  • Be immersed heavily into learning & development of key skills in the important areas of the adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After effects) 
  • Work on and input into projects and day to day Business as Usual (BAU) work which including Brand identity, Conceptual Ideas, Design of offline / online assets, motion design, understanding the fundamentals in print design, and working to strict deadlines. These are all with the aim of gaining experience which will be heavily transferrable into their future studies and professional practice in design studio. 
  • Be immersed into a concept from pre-production to assisting in visual development, to postproduction asset creation for our stakeholders and various channels; We aim to give a broad scope across all major design touchpoints to give a uniform and consistent visual identity throughout. Providing full visibility of the creative process from our in-house creative studio. 
  • Work closely and communicate with the design team on projects, as well as wider functional communications as required.  

What you'll need
We're not about box-ticking, but if this profile speaks to you all the better:

  • An impeccable and fierce attention for detail.
  • Passion for all things graphic design, typography, layout and branding.
  • Good experience in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively    
  • Experience in after-effects is a bonus.
  • A passion for collaboration, with creatives, copywriters, retoucher's and videographers to seamlessly execute ideas at scale.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal and inter-departmental - methodical and proactive.

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you'll be invited to take part in a video screening and if successful, you'll be invited to an in person assessment day. Our assessment days will be held at Gymshark HQ, Solihull, UK at the beginning of December.

Job applications open on 11th October 2021 and close on 24th October 2021.

Placement is for 13 months from July 2022.
