A little bit about the role

We are looking for an undergraduate   to   join our   Material   Development Team   for an exciting   13-month placement starting in July 2022. As  the Materials  student placement , your mission   will be to   assist with the   sourcing and development of fabrics and prints,   building on   Gymshark's   Material   strategy and creative vision.    

  Working with the Senior   Material Developer, you will   collaborate   closely with the  Design, Product Management, Product Development and Innovation teams, whilst also   gaining key insights from the wider business across Merchandising, Trading, Creative, PR and more.   This is a great opportunity to work in a   fast-growing, ever-changing   company, with support and training on all aspects of fabric and print. You will   also   be given   a   unique   opportunity   to visit suppliers.

What you'll be doing
You will gain experience in the following areas:

Day-to-day    

  • Assist with material development   and sourcing tasks with support and guidance from Senior Material Developers  
  • Build and maintain close relationships with other Product teams such as Design, Product Management, Product   Development   and Innovation  
  • With guidance from Senior Material Developers, assist with the material consolidation to assure continuous improvement in material efficiency  
  • Contribute towards the creation of the material toolbox to ensure information is clear and well presented   for   other teams to efficiently utilise when building product  
  • Support on general administrative tasks   to   support the efficient running of the Materials team  
  • Collaborate with Material Development counterparts in Regional/Liaison offices, working together to deliver against the Product Creation Calendar timelines  

Collaboration    

  • Material Development team in the UK - daily tasks, team admin, materials developments, material toolbox, All Over Print process admin    
  • Regional Office interaction, daily communication with overseas teams on either email or video call
  • Work with and support teams within the Product department such as Sourcing, Product Development, Design, Product Management on daily queries and tasks    

What you'll need
We're not about box-ticking, but if this profile speaks to you all the better:
  • Working towards / completed an undergraduate degree  i n Fashion, Design   or   other relevant field   of study      
  • Ability to anticipate problems, offer solutions, and address issues    
  • Passion for   performance / sportswear fabrics    
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively    
  • Effective communication skills     
  • IT literate   with   excellent command of   Word,   Excel   and Outlook    
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate effectively   at all levels    
  • Ability to   easily manage   workload whilst working across multiple seasons    
  • Ability to cope with change in a fast-moving,   energetic environment

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you'll be invited to take part in a video screening and if successful, you'll be invited to an in person assessment day. Our assessment days will be held at Gymshark HQ, Solihull, UK at the beginning of December.

Job applications open on 11th October 2021 and close on 24th October 2021.

Placement is for 13 months from July 2022.
