HUGO strives to become the first brand touch point for younger customers, with a contemporary focus on Denim. To achieve this, we are currently seeking an R&D Manager Fabrics & Trimmings Denim with a passion for quality, sustainability, details and fashion.

In this role, you'll manage and monitor the development of the denim fabrics & trimmings and bring the product to a higher level while ensuring that they are executed perfectly and are delivered within the set time, prices and quality standards. You are a technical professional with great taste in respect to design and creation, a process in which you are involved every step of the way. You lead the sustainable and innovation development for fabrics & trimmings, in consideration of retail and design needs. You examine and assess all facets relevant to fabrics & trimmings and support the design team on material selection from development until production. You know what's happening in the industry and you're familiar with the latest trends and developments.

What you can expect:
  • Responsible for Research & Development of fabrics and trimmings related to Denim, considering collection briefings, market requirements, minimum quantities, quality requirements and lead times
  • Proactive research of innovation and trends, new technologies, washes and sustainable options
  • Development of wash concepts and finishes, establishing a unique HUGO look & feel
  • Manage capsules and programs execution within R&D
  • Responsible for supplier management, including price negotiations, 3D data management, material countersourcings, sampling orders and monitoring Identify fabrics and trimmings that need to be cost engineered, follow-through
  • Responsible for developing a seasonal fabric and wash lineplan in line with Design Brief
  • Ensure that sustainability is a key priority and reflected in materials development
  • Responsible for PLM/ SAP data maintenance and data monitoring related to developed fabrics & trimmings
  • Strong collaboration and follow-through with interfaces, e.g. Technical Development, Materials Management, Buying, Production, Global Sustainability, Quality Departments
  • Proactive benchmark of competitors materials, trends and innovations. Fair attendance and supplier visits on a regular base

Your profile:
  • ​​​​​​Bachelor degree in technical fashion management or equivalent from recognized academic institution
  • Min. 2 years experience as denim fabric & trim developer
  • Strong fashion sense combined with a passion for innovative product and sustainability
  • Proven ability to anticipate operational issues and develop preventative measures
  • Proven ability to take decisions across geographies in a matrix environment where speed is crucial
  • Strong passion for Denim and the brand HUGO
  • Excellent english communication skills
  • Good IT Skills (Outlook, MS Office, PLM/ SAP)
  • Basic knowledge of 3D materials visualization considered a plus
  • Responsible, proactive, capable of performing under pressure and adaptable to shifting priorities and timelines
  • Open-minded, intercultural competent and a confident communicator liaising at all levels
