JOB SUMMARY

As a Tory Burch product developer, you are a critical cross functional partner, pivotal in building aesthetically pleasing and quality authentic product while achieving financial goals.

Coordination of the product development process is performed by:

Working to calendar deadlines to insure the line delivers on time for both market and production handoff. Fostering team cross functional relationships to insure the product meets aesthetic, quality, and functional requirements. Promoting the sourcing partner relationship to achieve divisional margin goals and key performance indicators.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DEVELOPMENT:
  • Manages the Product Development team to insure each counterpart is performing to their expectations
  • Accountable for full realization of the collection from design handover to bulk production
  • Compiles and reviews all BOMs for accuracy, completeness, quality, affordability, and compliance prior to issuance across RTW and Soft Accessory categories
  • Recommends design enhancements, construction and material options geared at elevating our brands and hitting financial requirements
  • Resolves with counterparts any design that does not meet design, merchandising, production or financial needs
  • Understands the technical function behind performance wear to communicate with suppliers on design aesthetic as well as work through costing alternatives
  • Coordinates with cross functional teams to manage BOM turnover within calendar, development status, and final handoff to production and merchandising
  • Schedules, tracks, and reports on all requested prototypes, SMS, and pre-production samples to insure exact execution of final design
  • Works closely with design and tech design on seasonal offering needs to provide options in fabrics, trim materials, techniques, that are on brand
  • With production, tech design, and design input, awards business by allocating specs to factories that are advantageous to the brand for aesthetic, price, delivery, and execution while avoiding overdependence on any resource


PRODUCT INTEGRITY AND OPERATIONS:
  • Aims to instill quality in the product from material selection thru final production
  • Reviews all components with an eye for quality and durability
  • Insures that all components and constructions used are compliant for performance and restricted substances prior to production
  • Responsible for sending out Range Overviews to factories at Proto, SMS, and Post-Buy stage.
  • Post SMS Works closely with Merchandising and Production teams to ensure PLM is accurate based on what is on the final Buy and what is confirmed to factories
  • Manages all Product Copy for the site. Works very closely with the Product Copy team to provide correct product knowledge information to them and proofreads all product copy for the website
  • Works with the Product Copy and Merchandising team on a seasonal calendar as to when copy needs to be approved by to insure no delays
  • Manages Tory Track and general sample tracking along with the sample coordinator including the printing of QR tracking stickers at SMS launch and Post SMS and sending to the factories accordingly
  • Works closely with the Digital Operations team in NJ to insure that all product that is shot for Ecomm is correct and does not require any further editing. Communicates any product changes to Digital team in a timely manner
  • Communicates daily with Merchandising and Production on any product changes that could affect Buys or POs
  • Managing special capsule projects including projects for Outlet, Mainline, and Masters
  • Manages all Core/Evergreen product Post-Buy in PLM ensuring accuracy from PDM to PLM. Works closely with Merchandising team to review what Core/Evergreen product is being re-bought.
  • Works closely with Merchandising team to ensure PLM is accurate based on what is on the final Buy and confirmed to factories


CALENDAR:
  • Manages multiple calendars to insure timely turnover of development, return of prototypes, and SMS and placement of final production with Merchandising and Production
  • Monitors calendar daily to promote flow of development to ultimately ensure handoff for bulk production is maintained
  • Apprises and resolves calendar variances with team and management accordingly


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES NOT COVERED IN FOCUS AREAS
  • As needed works closely with tech design, design and production to resolve delivery and material issues affecting production
  • Fully accountable for assigned product categories and responsible for organizing fittings/meetings with tech design when needed
  • Takes detailed fit notes in each fitting with the tech design team to insure proper fit and use of fabrics and trims
  • Works on other relevant projects as required by supervisor


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years in apparel product development, sourcing, and/or production
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong math and collaborative skills
  • Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment
  • Experience with PLM
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Illustrator, MS Teams
