Responsibilities:

The Thomas Jefferson University Fashion Design department is looking for a Full-Time Assistant Professor to join the team January 2022. This faculty position is focused on the intersection of fashion & technology and applicants should be focused on pushing the industry forward through fashion innovation. Ideal candidates recognize the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration, human-centered design, and support a “fashion for all” mentality.

The successful candidate will teach courses such as 3D Virtual Fashion Design, CAD for Fashion, and various courses focused on fashion technology software and should be a dynamic and experienced teacher who applies active student-learning methods in the classroom. Additionally, the Instructor is responsible for all lecture and/or laboratory instruction, preparation for lecture and/or laboratory, and all grading. The Assistant Professor will instruct students on developing and strengthening their portfolios through 3D Design and CAD coursework

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have either; a Master’s Degree, MS or MFA in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or another design degree OR a Fashion Design undergraduate degree and an advanced business degree (MBA or MS Fashion Design Management,) OR  a Fashion Design undergraduate degree plus 7 to 10 years of significant industry experience.

The ideal candidate has an excellent understanding of fashion design technology and is qualified to teach computer aided design courses related to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, and CLO 3D software.

  • Experience working with other 3D design software such as Browzwear, Maya, and Optitex is a plus.
  • Applicants must have at least 1 year of experience teaching at the university level.
  • A graduate degree in the appropriate, relevant field is required.

Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, and CLO 3D software are required. Candidates must stay up-to-date on the latest fashion design industry software.
