Lead Buyer Construction & Picktower (m/w/d)

You will lead the Indirect Procurement team for Construction and Picktower to support our European logistics, retail and office build-out and operation by delivering sourcing strategies and cost control for the most common construction works (e.g. MEP, carpenter, steel), its planning service and the Picktower of our Logistic Centers. Your goal will be to develop and leverage partnerships with key European developers, general constructors and execution companies to implement our functional strategies on budget, in time and in an innovative and sustainable way. You will also be responsible for managing 2 Sourcing Managers in this field of expertise and their deliverables.
  • You will be responsible for managing the commodities of Construction (greenfields and retrofit), which includes the most common building construction works as well as architecture, planning, due diligence and appraisal services, but also for Picktower for our distribution centers
  • You will develop, establish and maintain cost-effective, service-oriented as well as quality-focused strategic supplier relationships and and be a key account for one or several of our strategic suppliers
  • You will partner with the central and local commercial construction and intralogistic planning departments to fulfill the procurement needs of the internal customers in logistics, retail and office operations as well as guide them strategically based on market trends
  • You will continually benchmark your suppliers to monitor cost and technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into Zalando's project pipeline
  • You will establish construction supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the RFQ process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • You will negotiate agreements and framework contracts with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, capacity and service terms.

  • Have minimum of 3-5 years relevant purchasing experience (sourcing, construction, supply chain, product or manufacturing) in fast-paced organizations with exposure to innovative and new approaches to procurement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, sourcing, supply chain management, finance or comparable qualification.
  • Experience with the tenant fit-out, extension, re-development and retrofitting of large fulfillment centres of e-tailers
  • You are analytical and have a problem-solving attitude with a proven ability to achieve cost savings and overall efficiency on focused categories of spend
  • You have a proven track record of leading people and develop them.
  • With a lense to sustainability, you'll bring strong knowledge of the construction industry and marketplace to support strategy creation and research.
  • You are able to coordinate and manage multiple internal stakeholders with various levels of hierarchy and drive collaboration and partnerships with our vendors
  • Effectively communicate (verbal, written and visually) globally, in English, across the matrix and across a broad partner base in varied settings.
