Its handbags have become a favourite among women all over the world, including celebrities such as Beyonce, Irina Shayk, Emily Blunt, and January Jones among others. In addition to its direct-to-consumer business, DeMellier is stocked in leading department stores such as Le Bon Marche, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Lane Crawford among others. Beyond creating beautiful products, DeMellier's mission is to be a force of positive influence in the fashion industry. Creating products by women for women, made with integrity while giving back to those less fortunate. For every item sold DeMellier funds vaccines and medical treatments aimed to save the life of a child in need.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a fast-growing designer fashion brand in a key position within the team to take it to the next level in the upcoming stage of growth. Reporting directly into the Founder & Managing Director, the Head of Marketing will lead all marketing & communication channels as well as define the overall branding and marketing strategy. They will work closely with the Ecommerce and Creative teams and will manage a team of 4 direct reports.  

SUMMARY

As Head of Marketing you will lead our Brand, Content, PR & Comms, Buying/Merchandising and International Market teams – with the primary objective of driving awareness and consideration of DeMellier among new customers and deepening loyalty and engagement among existing customers (particularly our top customers).

You will have significant experience in leading marketing functions with a strong customer focus, with a fashion background ideally with a contemporary designer brand, or demonstrated knowledge of the industry. You will need a demonstrable track record in building brand campaigns across all channels that contribute to the growth and success of a business.

You must be commercially minded with a KPI focus and ROI mentality, and you will be a team player with a strong can-do attitude.

 

TEAM STRUCTURE

You will have 4 direct reports:

  • Marketing & Communication Executive
  • PR & Communications Assistant
  • Business Analyst & Merchandiser
  • China Marketing Assistant

You will report into the Founder & Managing Director of the brand.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND STRATEGY & PLANNING

Work closely with the MD/Creative Director and other key Senior employees to define brand direction and lead on regular strategy regroups.

Develop and implement a creative and engaging marketing strategy to build brand awareness and communicate the company’s brand values.

Ensure the seasonal brand communications plan projects a clear and distinctive personality for the brand that aligns with DeMellier’s brand values - while also being tightly aligned with key commercial objectives, product launch timings and the trading calendar.

Manage the master marketing calendar ensuring the Content team understands content requirements and delivers assets on time.

Own the brand marketing budget and manage spend by channel, partnering with the Senior E-Commerce Manager who is responsible for Digital/E-Com spend.

Work with the Senior E-Commerce Manager on all analysis and reporting, establishing benchmarks and delivering thoughtfully considered updates in Weekly/Monthly Trade meetings.

CONTENT MARKETING

Manage and develop the Content Marketing team – ensuring that their brand storytelling is managed effectively and coordinated across multiple channels (Website, Magazine, Email, Social Media, Paid advertising etc)

With the Creative Director & Senior E-Commerce Manager, facilitate regroups before key photoshoots to ensure the Content Marketing team understand their deliverables.

PR, INFLUENCER & COMMS

Define and develop editorial strategy for the season in terms of brand initiatives, product pushes, feature stories on the brand, feature stories on the Creative Director.

Cultivate, foster and maintain strong relationships in the fashion industry- editors, stylists, influencers and manage PR and celebrity agencies.

Lead on the brand’s influencer strategy continually identifying those influencers who align with DeMellier’s brand values and putting outreach plans in place (gifting etc).

Organize and execute event press strategies for specific global & local events

Write and review press releases, lookbooks & linesheets as and when required

INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

Look for growth opportunities in International markets with high potential for commercial expansion

Manage and align marketing strategy across markets and platforms, especially for Mainland China and attend, lead and manage bi-weekly calls with DeMellier’s China agency ensuring they are kept up-to-date on the brand/marketing strategy

Manage the China Marketing Assistant who oversees the day-to-day operations in China, including planning and reviewing all social media posts and seasonal refreshes of DeMellier’s WeChat store.

MARKETING ANALYSIS

Manage the Business Analyst / Merchandiser, providing them with the Marketing plan and relevant Brand & Content information to inform product merchandising and buying

Work with the relevant team members to gather data, analyses and reports for strategic planning and decision-making

 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Degree in Business, Fashion Management or similar, ideally Master’s Degree
  • Proven experience of minimum 8-10 years in Brand Marketing within Fashion or Designer brands, with experience leading and building teams and managing 360 marketing campaigns
  • Experience with Ecommerce businesses is preferred, as well as excellent understanding of Digital Marketing and online channels
  • Experience managing key stakeholders internally and externally, including a portfolio of various agencies across multiple territories
  • Experience of managing global campaigns, with excellent knowledge of US and UK markets especially
  • Very strong project management skills, with the ability to emulate and bring together cross-functional teams to deliver successful campaigns
  • An analytical mind and approach, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint) & Google suite
  • A good creative eye, able to convey the brand values and aesthetics across all channels and platforms and to brief teams and agencies accordingly
  • A true team player, comfortable working in a small structure and with a “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Very strong attention to detail
