SUMMARY

The position focuses on import and domestic styles relating to the Bridal & Special Occasion categories. This individual is responsible for executing and directing all duties of the product design process in an organized and timely manner in conjunction with cross-functional teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Responsible for facilitating design meetings with the creative directors to establish design direction, silhouettes, color and print direction for the Bridal & Special Occasion Collections each season
  • Research and development based on consumer trends in relation to fabrics and inspiration bodies on a monthly basis
  • Oversees all fabric & print development, trim development, and lab dip development to ensure raw materials are received on time while staying within quality and cost parameters
  • Responsible for creating all CAD illustrations and finalizing line sheets as discussed during sketch review period
  • Maintains all CAD, line sheet and design board updates independently on a weekly basis
  • Sets up detailed tech packs for all import bridal styles as well as hand over sheets for domestic styles
  • Responsible for creating, updating and maintaining tech packs throughout the season while communicating changes to both the import and domestic teams
  • Collaborates with patternmaker and sample coordinators to help achieve desired look of garments during weekly fittings
  • Creates, distributes and maintains BOMS per style
  • Checks in all fit samples as received and passes to fit tech for spec-ing
  • Maintains and organizes all sample racks
  • Tests all new bridal silhouettes on a range of sizes before product launch by organizing a fit review with the creative directors and fit team
  • Executes testing of all new colors and fabrications before bulk orders are placed.
  • Actively participates in all monthly sales and return meetings
  • Redevelops existing bridal silhouettes based on monthly customer and returns feedback
  • Schedules proto line reviews at the end of each season to ensure a smooth hand off to the pre-production team

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed.
  • Familiar and comfortable working in Adobe Suites Apps- specifically Illustrator & Photoshop
  • Must be able to execute CAD illustrations in Adobe Illustrator
  • PC literate with basic understanding and skills in using keyboard and Microsoft office products
  • Candidate must be highly organized with ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency and be a team player
  • Must have experience in measuring garments and garment construction
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with novelty fabrics such as lace, sequins, beading and embroidery

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 6 years design or  product development work experience
  • Bachelors or Associates degree in fashion design or product development preferred
  • Dynamic analytical, problem solving and project management abilities- must be a self starter
  • Flexibility with regards to job responsibilities
  • Knowledge with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficient in Adobe applications- Photoshop & Illustrator
