The Director of Regional Marketing DACH reports directly into the Director Regional Marketing and drives Consumer Marketing, Marketing and Demand in the DACH region (Germany, Switzerland & Austria). In this role you are responsible to bring the local voice and the market insights to the teams, to drive the value proposition, brand perception and growth in the regions.

You lead a team of around 13 which is focused on DACH. Your peers are the Director of Regional Marketing for France, Southern Europe, Eastern Euope Nordics, UK/IE/Benelux. This is a very influential and critical role for Zalando which requires strong collaboration across teams and a strategic mind combined with an hands-on attitude. In this role you also drive best practices, insight and knowledge sharing across your region to unlock efficiency and effectiveness wins.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Drive the Regional Marketing Strategy - Develop, execute and lead Zalando's Marketing Strategy to meet the business and growth KPIs in the market. Work closely together with the Markets, Analytics and Media team to define core audiences and how to win them over. Have a sharp eye on and understand in-depth the market dynamics and upcoming trends to inform the go-to-market-strategy and the wider Zalando organisation. Unlock effectiveness and efficiency wins by scaling best practices across the region.
    Take responsibility for the definition of the local marketing positioning and proposition and accountability for its translation into functional KPIs. Lead the marketing plan to drive results short-term and long-term impact.
  • Win new customers, engage existing ones and drive the brand perception (deeply understand the consumer and the market) - This includes planning, driving and executing local Brand events, informing global/glocal Marketing initiatives, planning and executing local amplifications which build on audience and market insights and driving and executing country specific initiative to build the brand, awareness, consideration and growth. This also includes bringing the market and consumer insights to life and to act on insights fast and deliberately.
    Manage the regional media spend in the market (in close alignment with the DACH GM and the Media Manager) with the goal of maximizing the effectiveness of our investment both across measurable and non-measurable channels. Manage best in class Marketing at scale working very closely with the global demand teams.
  • Collaborate and win - Lead the business in the market in strong collaboration with all Global Marketing/X-functional teams (Like Trading, Retail, CRM, Connected Retail, PLUS and Lounge), to identify local marketing opportunities and orchestrate a consistent "One customer voice". Closely collaborate with the General Manager, to align on local opportunities and investment choices. Also, drive and amplify global initiatives locally. Work together with other key business units and stakeholders, specifically in Supply and Convenience to drive the value proposition in the markets and to bring the market/Brand voice to the decision table.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • General professional experience & skills - 10+ years of relevant Operational Marketing and Commercial experience. Proven track record in driving mature markets specificities and growth (Having experienced engagement Marketing projects to boost CLV or build on loyalty. Local competency/experiences in the one of the DACH region.
  • Business & analytical mind - Proven track record in developing a 360 marketing strategy, planning and executing Regional/Country Marketing Strategy. Deep expertise in reaching and engaging user/audience segments through a targeted value proposition and marketing strategy. Experienced in applying latest insights and KPIs to strengthen the marketing position and to drive market share growth (CLV) and revenue. Strategic business and marketing mind, able to translate customer needs and business opportunities to a sound actionable plan that yields results on both short-term and mid-ter (Analytical mindset is required).
  • Strong leadership & marketing expertise - You are able and familiar to manage multiple stakeholders effectively (locally and globally) and are reliable when it comes to getting things done. You are a great team leader, capable of bringing people with you on the strategic journey you will create to optimise your marketing initiatives, generate brand love locally to engage and excite your consumer. You have experience in getting things done in complex and fast paced organizational environments.
  • Get stuff done - You are getting things done in a fast-paced ongoingly changing environment. You are a highly reliable business partner, passionate about your work and able to choose the right battles. You embrace and drive change and are always on the hunt for solutions and improvements.
  • Strong communicator - You have excellent English skills, and are able to communicate clearly with various stakeholders, able to bring people with you and to drive alignment.
