Job Details

The ideal candidate will be an established fashion designer with significant design leadership and experience, primarily in the segments of the industry that are using 3D software technology and/or emerging and developing technologies. This includes 3D virtual fashion design software, digital textile development and presentation solutions, body scanning and avatar creation, no sew construction technology, 3D printing, and other similar and evolving creative design applications. The candidate will be able to readily combine professionally experienced, hands-on traditional and conceptual design approaches to initiate, develop and teach innovative core AAS and BFA courses, particularly in these areas.

The candidate will be well-suited in the interdisciplinary and collaborative work that typifies the diversity of the department, School, and College. The candidate will have six years of industry experience as a senior fashion designer with proficiency in 3D technology and/or emerging and developing technologies.

The candidate will be knowledgeable about successful fashion practices across several current and developing methodologies, understand market trends and fluency in emerging technology. The successful candidate will have foundational knowledge of garment construction and facilitate students to build and produce collections. The candidate will develop and implement new curriculum in collaboration with the department, in specific courses of emerging topics.

It is expected that the selected candidate will establish and/or build upon a personal area of strength at the time of attaining tenure, which includes relevant research; expertise in fashion technologies and/or innovation; fashion show presentations or exhibitions; development of curriculum, grants, proposals; cultivation of industry support; and/or in another area of scholarly/creative work.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department, School, College, beyond the classroom in curriculum development and with committee service.

  • Demonstrate implementation of instructional methodolgoies and practical applications that enrich students' learning experience through innovative pedagogies, research, and/or creative scholarship.
  • Demonstrate execution of socially responsible and sustainable design projects that instruct and inspire a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrate experience in developing or teaching a curriculum that addresses diversity in design.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate through technology and utilization of the College course management system and campus portal.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining currency in technological skills and knowledge

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required with six (6) years of professional experience as a senior fashion or 3D clothing designer. Candidates must present a strong fashion portfolio showcasing professional work inclusive of relevant press and/or industry recognition. Digital skills, 3D and specific related apparel software skills utilized by fashion design professionals required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's degree preferred.

Three (3) years or more of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
