Responsibilities

• Lead the overall sketch creation
• Develop technical flats and design sheets for each collection, utilizing the brand vision together with the Product Director and Creative Director
• Work closely with the Product Director, Creative Director and cross-functional team members to create brand specific products
• Update sketches throughout the product life cycle process
• Correct and approve fit and construction for each sample
• Source and analyze industry trends, shapes, market competition for materials, colors, etc.
• Complete ad-hoc assignments as directed by management
• Travel overseas as needed

Knowledge and skills

• Understanding all stages in the design development process
• Knowledge of garment development, fabrics, patterns, trims and construction
• Advanced knowledge of sketching
• Strong creative ability that will translate forecast trends in relation to the brand customer
• Undertaking design research based on the creative direction
• Adaptable, effective and proactive, with a high level of attention to detail
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and have a “big picture” understanding
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment of constant change and shifting priorities
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Degree in Apparel Design related field
• 3+ years of relevant working experience in a similar position
• In-depth knowledge of textiles, materials, construction and fit
• Portfolio demonstrating experience in computer sketching (Illustrator), hand sketching, flat sketching, developing tech packs
• Preferably experience from a contemporary luxury and/or sports brand
