About the Role

In this function, you will enable business leaders to achieve business results through strategic counsel, problem solving, and risk mitigation. You will need to be customer curious to learn more about the business and its challenges. You'll need to understand the big picture strategy and speak with candor when working with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive business solutions and in accordance with the law.

What You'll Do

As a member of the Global Employment Law team at Gap Inc., the Senior Counsel, Employment Litigation willmanagethe defense of litigation and claimsas well asprovide strategic advice and counselrelated to theCompany's employmentcompliance efforts.

Specificjob responsibilities will include, among other things:
  • Manage litigation and claims, including class actions, administrativecharges and pre-litigation demands. Thisincludes overseeing the work of outside counsel in multiple jurisdictions as well as in-house paralegal staff.
  • Coordinates withoutside counselin the representation of the company's position to ensure a consistent, effective, and pragmatic approachtodefense ofthe Company'slegal position.
  • Providepractical legal adviceandengage incollaborative problem-solvingonvarious areasofemploymentlawcomplianceincluding,but not limited to,wage and hour, schedulingand pay equity.
  • Proactively identify and assess potentiallegaland/or reputational risk, and recommendpractical, creativesolutions that balance legal risk with business impact.
  • Collaboratewith cross-functional business partners on complex legal matters andbusinessprojects to driveand sustainemployment law compliance andbusiness results.


Minimum
  • Juris Doctor or LLM from an accredited law school
  • A minimum of 5years of employment law and related litigation experience, preferablyincluding anin-house corporate legal environmentor large corporate environment
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state orotherapplicable jurisdiction
  • Strong, persuasive written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability toeffectively influencebusinessleadersand resolve differences of opinion amongst stakeholders, while navigating relationships and decision rights
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with other professionals- strong personal skills
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and solutions, and drive to successful and timely completion
  • Open-minded; comfortable with ambiguity; ability to extrapolate potential solutions from prior experiences
  • Abilityto prioritize and juggle multiple competing tasks
  • Adept at and comfortable making complex riskeward assessments
  • Able to create, explain and executepragmatic/creative legal and business solutions
  • Self-motivated team player with theability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, respect,andethical conduct·
