The Studio Manager, together with the Studio Director and the Studio Assistants, is responsible for managing all aspects of the Burberry Design Studio. Creating and maintaining systems to support the Studio and Design Directors and ensuring the collection comes together in a timely and organised fashion.

The role also involves various PA/administrative duties to support the creative process and is critical to the successful and smooth running of the Design Studio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Studio Management
  • Help to assist the Design Directors and team to coordinate the creative work following up their progress & helping them meet deadlines
  • Assist the Studio Director in overseeing the Studio Assistants
  • Making arrangements and organising equipment for new starters as well as freelancers
  • Support the Design Directors with all related HR/administrative forms (managing holidays/sickness etc.)
  • Make sure communication between studio and all relevant areas of business is constant and fluid
  • Support the Studio Director by helping to define in detail the operating schedule of all collections according to the runway show, sales calendar & factories' availability as well as Chief Creative Officer's schedule and needs
  • Organise meetings, book meeting rooms and liaise with all relevant parties (Design, Product Development, Merchandising)
  • When needed, help the design team to prepare for key steps - board presentations, organizing for collection reviews, sketch to fabrics etc.
  • Liaise with designers, product development and fabric and trims to obtain a full understanding of design and development/sampling process
  • Managing the studio's vintage process to ensure it is organised both physically and digitally, checking items in and out, ensuring good condition, arranging dry cleaning when necessary




  • House model bookings
  • Organise travel for the Design Directors and their teams
  • Assist the Design Directors and their teams to maintain a tidy, organised and positive working environment for all staff
  • Be an ambassador for the brand at all times
  • Support Studio Director in managing budgets (research, vintage, travel and stationary) ensuring the Studio operates within set parameters and alerting the Studio Director about possible overrun in good time so that corrections can be made




PA/Administration
  • Extensive diary and agenda management across time zones
  • Processing expenses in line with company policy
  • Booking travel including flights, hotels and taxis for Design Directors
  • Booking flights and hotels for the Design Director's teams when necessary
  • Plan detailed and comprehensive travel itineraries for the Design Directors including arranging for visas where necessary
  • Raising purchase orders and paying invoices in line with company procedures




  • Handling IT and Maintenance queries
  • General studio administration
  • Supporting production of boards/research for design meetings
  • Organising events on the request of the Design Directors
  • Respond to and declare any external invitation and speaking requests
  • Running of ad-hoc errands
  • Ensuring phones are answered politely, quickly and efficiently
  • Opening and distribution of all post
  • Dealing with requests in a prompt and efficient manner
  • Making arrangements and organising equipment for new starters


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Previous experience of working as a Studio Manager, Studio Coordinator and/or PA to management
  • Highly computer literate, particularly in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with Ariba, SAP and Concur preferred
  • Experience in using technology for meetings (VC, teleconference, skype, webex etc)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to multi task
  • Professionalism and a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to be very flexible and to re-prioritise near-term assignments
  • Strong communication including excellent written and spoken English, interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Italian language skills beneficial
  • Ability to work as a team, whilst also demonstrating initiative and flexibility where necessary




  • Able to appear calm and professional while working in a highly pressured environment
  • Understanding and adhering to Exec Admin processes and ways of working (filing, file labelling conventions)
  • Experience of managing/overseeing others preferable
  • Providing cover as and when required for Studio Coordinators/PAs in the studio
  • Previous solid experience in a fashion brand
  • Instinctive connection with Burberry
  • Excellent people skills
  • Strong understanding of the critical path
  • Proven ability to adhere to and deliver to deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of apparel manufacturing and production beneficial
