Job Details

The Ecosystem Governance team enables the growth of a healthy, and competitive Partner ecosystem. We collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of developers, product managers, lawyers, content strategists, marketers, and data scientists to ensure that our partner ecosystem is secure and reliable for our merchants. As Shopify continues to grow, expand its geographical footprint and develop new product offerings, avenues for fraud and policy violations constantly evolve. Our job is to stay ahead of both existing and emerging trends within our partner ecosystem through policy definition, violation detection, and enforcement.

The Compliance Lead will be responsible for overseeing a team of Coordinators and Strategic Specialists whose main mission is to identify and address bad actors within our Ecosystem. You'll be responsible for defining and growing the partner governance incident response strategy, helping to develop our roadmap, owning the partner governance playbook and providing coaching.

This is a trailblazing team! You will have the creative freedom to make a real difference and the chance to work with the best talent. Sounds like the place for you? Read on, and we'd love to hear from you!

In addition to submitting your resume, please answer the following question in the Message to Hiring Manager section. Applications without this included will not be considered. As a people manager, what has been your biggest challenge and what steps did you take to solve it?

You'd be doing things like:
  • Champion a program that addresses violations against our Terms of Service by Partners in our Ecosystem; operationalizing those processes and measuring their success, all while ensuring a low-friction experience for our merchants and compliant partners..
  • Be willing to roll up your sleeves and participate in critical incident response and mitigation efforts.
  • This role involves looking at multiple sources of information in order to make the right decision. You must be able to creatively seek out stones to overturn in an effort to protect Shopify from bad actors while minimizing friction for legitimate users.
  • Leading a team: You will be responsible for performance management and building a high impact team
  • Participating in an on-call rotation.
