Deputy Editor

About the Role

Jing Daily is looking for a dynamic deputy editor with strong writing, editing and analytical skills and expertise in the luxury market in China to join our team. The deputy editor will work closely with Jing Daily’s editor-in-chief to maintain and improve content quality. In this role, you will be instrumental in expanding Jing Daily’s core editorial product as the publication grows.

Strategy Responsibilities

• Work with editor-in-chief and editorial director to set and maintain content direction and quality, innovate on content formats
• Strategize and improve content flow and integration between global and China teams
• Prioritize content assimilation and integration 
• Establish and implement breaking news protocol 
• Strengthen pool of noteworthy contributors and talent
• Work to track and maintain Jing Daily’s visual language

Daily Responsibilities

• Maintain overall eye on site and articles for content quality
• Content and copy edit in-house articles
• Develop and support in-house journalist 
• Select daily Jing Takes and bits/bytes
• Review and schedule daily newsletter
• Pitch ideas in weekly editorial meeting and engage in ideation for overall articles
• Write 1x weekly lead feature

Who You Are

• 5+ years of professional experience in a publishing and writing role
• Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese a plus
• Proven ability to lead a team and nurture talent, experience with establishing and managing editorial teams and structure
• Passion for improving workplace culture
• Proficient in B2B writing, reporting, and editing
• Strong sense of design and experience
